An analysis of model predictive control with integral action applied to digital displacement cylinders

This article aims to analyze Model Predictive Control (MPC) for the control of multi-chamber cylinders. MPC with and without integral action has been introduced. Three different algorithms have been used to solve the optimization problem in the MPC. The different algorithms have been compared with an industrial solver. The influence of changing mass, choosing a different middle line pressure, system delays, signal noise, velocity estimation, and changing pressure levels has been investigated. Review of photoelastic image analysis applied to structural birefringent materials: glass and polymers

Photoelasticity is particularly suitable for the analysis of the stress state in structural materials that are transparent and birefringent. Some techniques of digital photoelasticity (phase shifting and RGB) are applied to the analysis of stress field in two classes of structural materials. The first one consists of tempered glasses, such as those used in the automotive and architectural fields. The second one consists of thermoset polymers, typically used as matrices in fiber reinforced plastic structural composites. Five new Ni(II) dithiocarbamates with NiS4, NiS2PN and NiS2PCl coordination spheres, viz. [Ni(bupmbzdtc)2] (1), [Ni(bupmbzdtc)(PPh3)(NCS)] (2), [Ni(bupmbzdtc)(PPh3)Cl] (3), [Ni(4-dpmpzdtc)(PPh3)Cl] (4) and [Ni(pbbzbudtc)(PPh3)(NCS)] (5), where bupmbzdtc = N-butyl(p-methylbenzyl)dithiocarbamato anion, 4-dpmpzdtc = 4-(diphenylmethyl)piperazinecarbodithioato anion, pbbzbudtc = N-(p-bromobenzyl)butyl-dithiocarbamato anion and PPh3 = triphenylphosphine, were synthesized and characterized by UV, IR, NMR and single crystal X-ray diffraction methods. Driver distraction is a recognized cause of traffic accidents. Although the well-known guidelines for measuring distraction of secondary in-car tasks were published by the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in 2013, studies have raised concerns on the accuracy of the method defined in the guidelines, namely criticizing them for basing the diversity of the driver sample on driver age, and for inconsistent between-group results.
