Effects of Air Tightness Tests on Steel Thin-Wall Box Structures with Circular and Rectangular Cross Sections

In this paper, the effects of air tightness tests on steel box structures with rectangular or circular cross sections typical of port cranes (legs, arms, and crosspieces) are analyzed. Legs and arms are generally made with elements with profiles having a square or rectangular cross section, while the diagonal struts are made with profiles having circular cross sections. To verify the air tightness of these elements, a necessary requirement to protect them from corrosion if they are not protected with other protection techniques, air tightness tests are performed. A method is introduced to study the effects of flexural deformation on the electrical performance of thin-film lithium-ion batteries. Flexural deformation of thin films is of interest to engineers for applications that can be effective in conformal spaces in conjunction with multi-functional composite laminates in structural members under mechanical deflections such as thin airfoils used in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). AbstractProcessing of the nonstructural polyprotein of the hepatitis C virus (HCV) requires the serine-type proteinase located in the amino-terminal domain of NS3. To identify residues within NS3 determining substrate specificity, a mutation analysis was performed. Using sequence alignments and three-dimensional structure predictions, amino acids assumed to be important for specificity were replaced and the enzymes were tested in an intracellulartrans-processing assay for their effects on cleavage of an NS4B-5B substrate. Abstract In this paper a structural theorem about mutually permutable products of finite groups is obtained. This result is used to derive some results on mutually permutable products of groups whose chief factors are simple. Some earlier results on mutually permutable products of supersoluble groups appear as particular cases.
Unification in first-order transitive modal logic

We introduce unification in first-order transitive modal logics, i.e. logics extending Q–K4, and apply it to solve some problems such as admissibility of rules. Unifiable formulas in some extensions of Q–K4 are characterized and an explicit basis for the passive rules (those with non-unifiable premises) is provided. Both unifiability and passive rules depend on the number of logical constants in the logic; we focus on extensions of Q–K4 with at most four constants ⊤,⊥,□⊥,◊⊤. International audience; Unequally functionalized ferrocenes give access to valuable hemilabile reactivity in catalytic reaction. We address the synthesis of hybrid (P, N)-ferrocenyl compounds for which recent catalytic breakthrough applications have been reported, transversely in late transition metals chemistry. Palladium, nickel, rhodium, iridium, and emerging iron and gold catalysis are illustrated from selected examples, which include CC bond formation from cross-coupling and polymerization, allylic substitution, cyanation, hydroformylation, CH arylation and silylation and hydrogenation reactions.

AbstractMyc promoter-binding protein-1 (MBP-1) is a shorter protein variant of the glycolytic enzyme alpha-enolase. Although several lines of evidence indicate that MBP-1 acts as a tumor suppressor, the cellular mechanisms and signaling pathways underlying MBP-1 expression still remain largely elusive. To dissect these pathways, we used the SkBr3 breast cancer cell line and non-tumorigenic HEK293T cells ectopically overexpressing alpha-enolase/MBP-1. Here, we demonstrate that induced cell stresses promote MBP-1 expression through the AKT/PERK/eIF2α signaling axis. Abstract Episodes of endemism during Sinemurian–Pliensbachian times are described from synthetic data (publications and unpublished collections) about ammonite faunas of the western reaches of the Tethys. The Lusitanian, Sub-Betic and High Atlas basins receive special attention. The study shows that (1) endemism occurs principally in the Lusitanian and High Atlas basins, which are the most confined palaeogeographic structures; (2) it tends to occur synchronously in different basins but involving different taxa, i.e. it is independent of phylogeny; (3) it is not obviously correlated with relative sea-level at any given time.
