Abstract Background Despite the reported high prevalence of osteoporosis in the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-population, there have been no previous studies examining dairy calcium intake and bone mineral density (BMD) in HIV-subjects. We assessed the prevalence of low BMD in HIV-infected and uninfected subjects and analyzed the effects of calcium intake, lifestyle and HIV-related risk factors on BMD. Methods One hundred and twelve HIV-infected subjects were consecutively enrolled. Seventy- six HIV-uninfected subjects matched for age and sex were enrolled as the control group. Šī bakalaura darba mērķis bija noskaidrot saistības starp mātes depresijas simptomu un dusmu rādītājiem ar mātes audzināšanas stiliem un bērna uzvedības izpausmēm respondentu grupā, kuru bērni ir vecumā no 4-6 gadiem. Pētījuma izlasi veidoja 63 mātes vecumā no 21 līdz 42 gadiem (vidējais vecums bija 29 gadi). Pētījumā mātes dusmu un depresijas rādītāju noteikšanai tika izmantota Traumu simptomu aptauja (Trauma Symptom Inventory, Briere, 1995), Vecāku audzināšanas stila aptauja (Parental Authority Questionnaire, Buri, 1991), Ahenbaha –bērnu uzvedības aptauja (Child Behaviour Checklist, Achenbach & Rescorla,2001) un demogrāfisko datu aptauja. In the meta-theoretical framework, a full scientific theory is a complex hierarchical-network structure which covers three levels: 1) a set of ontological, epistemological-methodological and axiological assumptions (the philosophical basis of a theory); 2) a set of highly abstract theoretical notions and general theorems which compose the image of the world; 3) a set of notions and descriptive theorems which assert something directly about the object being examined (the empirical part). This is particularly concerning for women, as the years around menopause are accompanied by an increase in visceral obesity, a strong determinant of insulin resistance. The present study longitudinally examined stability and change in the attributional profiles of Finnish student athletes (n = 391) in upper secondary sport schools. Moreover, it examined the extent to which these profiles, and changes in them, were associated with athletes’ level of sport competition and school achievements and dropouts at the end of upper secondary sport school. Using latent profile analysis, five different and highly stable attributional profiles were identified for student athletes: (a) depressive (6.9%), (b) athletic self-serving (23.0%), (c) average (16.4%), (d) learned helplessness (30.9%), and (e) responsible (22.8%). Longitudinal associations between third‐grade teaching styles and sixth‐grade reading skills : a 3‐year follow‐up study

Background Most previous studies of teaching styles and reading skills have been cross-sectional. Longitudinal research is needed to clarify the direction of effects. The present longitudinal study examined the degree to which differences in teaching styles in the third grade predict the sixth-grade reading performance. The consistency of the findings was addressed by comparing results across students in two countries (Finland and Estonia). Tutkimuksessa analysoidaan verkko-oppimisympäristön oppimateriaalin eriyttämistä aistikanavapohjaisesti. Oppimateriaalin eriyttämiseen käytetään VARK-miellejärjestelmämallia, joka pyrkii tukemaan oppilaan oppimismieltymyksiä luokittelemalla kyselyn avulla oppilaat visuaalisen, auditiivisen, lukija–kirjoittaja- ja kinesteettisen aistipreferenssin mukaan ja tarjoamalla luokittelun perusteella heille erilaisia oppimisstrategioita.
