Rakstu krājums „Kultūras identitātes dimensijas” veltīts intelektuālās domas vēsturei Latvijā. Krājumā ietverto rakstu autori aplūko kādreiz būtiskas, taču šodien mūsu vēsturiskajā atmiņā jau piemirstas norises kultūras identitātes tapšanā un tās izpausmēs filozofisko un reliģisko ideju vēsturē, kā arī tajā intelektuālās identitātes vēsturē, kuru varam iepazīt mūsu tautiešu dzīvesstāstos.

2020. gada 27. janvārī LU Muzeja telpās Kronvalda bulvārī 4 notika pirmās Sarunas Muzejā, kuru centrālais objekts bija karte, kurā redzama ne vien Latvijas, bet arī plašu blakus esošo Krievijas teritoriju ģeoloģiskā uzbūve. Karti 1942. gadā, vācu okupācijas laikā, izdevis Zemes bagātību pētīšanas institūts. Sarunas bija pulcējušas ģeoloģijas jomu pārstāvjus, vēstures pētniekus un citus interesentus. Ģeoloģiskā karte digitalizētā formā ir pieejama LU e-resursu repozitorijā. Pasākums tika ierakstīts, lai tā gaitā pārcilātā informācija saglabātos kā LU Muzeja krājumā un būtu pieejams sabiedrībai. Etnogrāfu pētījumos aplūkoti materiālā un nemateriālā kultūras mantojuma, kas saistīts ar tekstīlijām, rokdarbu vēsturi, krāsām un krāsošanu, jautājumi.

A rare case of acute idiopathic colocolic intussusception in an adult patient

Abstract Adult intussusception is a rare condition that is frequently associated with malignancy and requires surgical approach. Symptoms are often non-specific and of subacute or chronic character. Therefore, computerized tomography (CT) scan is the most commonly used modality for identifying adult intussusception. A 51-year-old female presented with a 1-day history of increasing abdominal pain. Abdominal ultrasound and CT scan revealed intussusception. Intra-operatively, colocolic intussusception was present and laparoscopically reduced. A lead point was found neither intra-operatively nor in post-operative ileocolonoscopy and resection of involved bowel segments was not necessary.
Dual targeting of higher-order DNA structures by azacryptands induces DNA junction-mediated DNA damage in cancer cells

Abstract DNA is intrinsically dynamic and folds transiently into alternative higher-order structures such as G-quadruplexes (G4s) and three-way DNA junctions (TWJs). G4s and TWJs can be stabilised by small molecules (ligands) that have high chemotherapeutic potential, either as standalone DNA damaging agents or combined in synthetic lethality strategies. While previous approaches have claimed to use ligands that specifically target either G4s or TWJs, we report here on a new approach in which ligands targeting both TWJs and G4s in vitro demonstrate cellular effects distinct from that of G4 ligands, and attributable to TWJ targeting. gNOMO: a multi-omics pipeline for integrated host and microbiome analysis of non-model organisms

The study of bacterial symbioses has grown exponentially in the recent past. However, existing bioinformatic workflows of microbiome data analysis do commonly not integrate multiple meta-omics levels and are mainly geared toward human microbiomes. Microbiota are better understood when analyzed in their biological context; that is together with their host or environment. Nevertheless, this is a limitation when studying non-model organisms mainly due to the lack of well-annotated sequence references.
