IS security behavior has become a mainstream topic in information systems. Extent research is dominated with the viewpoint for discovery of generic and stable predictors. The viewpoint rests on the implicit assumption that information security behavior can be explained by discovering these factors. The best know examples are IS security behavior models grounded upon Protection Motivation Theory (PMT) and the Deterrence Theory (DT). The success of this perspective hinges on the question as to what extend the IS security behavior and the reasons for it, are constant from time to time and from one specific security situation to another. The viewpoint is successful if computer users have built …
The Human and Non-human Interconnectedness in Three Chinese Contemporary Artists
2021
Today, we live in an era known as the Anthropo cene. The interconnectedness between humans and other living entities and environments is an essential part of the theme of the Anthropocene and a central concern in contemporary culture and art. Through the emphasis of the role of non human agents, new materialism and posthuman ism radically problematize the binaries of sub ject/object, human/nonhuman, cultural/natural, and mind/body, and challenge the superiority of the human. Although both Chinese and Western scholars widely acknowledge that Chinese tradi tional culture and art are deeply based on less anthropocentric modes of thinking, the contem porary Chinese artists’ expression of the in…
In Search of the Good : The Role of Recognition in Proclus and Maximus the Confessor
2016
The concept of recognition is increasing in importance in political and social philosophy as a means of explaining and dealing conceptually with the problems of multiculturalism. Nevertheless, the phenomena which this concept signifies, namely human capacities for intersubjectivity, belong to human beings even before the development of the modern concept. This article explores how the content of the concept of recognition plays a role in two Platonic philosophies of Late Antiquity, those of the Neoplatonic philosopher Proclus and the Christian philosopher, monk and theologian Maximus the Confessor. It is shown that their versions of a metaphysics of the Good provides the foundation for a mo…

Bodily Practices in Action Formation and Ascription in Multilingual Interaction: Introduction to the Special Issue.
2022
This special issue brings together empirical studies that investigate how bodily practices feature in action formation and action ascription in multilingual interaction (Schegloff, 2007; Levinson, 2013). Grounded in video-based conversation analysis and drawing on data from diverse sociomaterial settings, the articles investigate the contingent interactional processes through which speakers from different language backgrounds accomplish actions and achieve intersubjectivity. They demonstrate how specific constellations of linguistic resources, bodily conduct, spatial configurations, and material ecology are built into accomplishment of actions at different levels of interactional organizati…
Musisointi ryhmäyttämisen välineenä
2017
Tässä tutkimuksessa perehdytään musisoinnin käyttöön ryhmäyttämisen välineenä. Ryhmäyttämisellä tarkoitetaan toiminnallisten menetelmien käyttöä ryhmän turvallisuuden lisäämiseen tähtäävässä prosessissa (Aalto 2000). Musisointi on osanottamista musiikilliseen toimintaan. Se on sosiaalinen tapahtuma, joka kertoo suhteistamme, ja siitä, keitä me olemme. (Small 2011.) Tutkimusstrategiani on laadullinen toimintatutkimus. Perustelen teoriakirjallisuuden pohjalta, miksi musiikki olisi toimiva ryhmäytysväline, ja hahmottelen musiikilliselle ryhmäytystoiminnalle periaatteita, joita testaan toimintatutkimuksellisessa interventiossa. Kokeilemisen, havainnoinnin ja reflektoinnin kautta pyrin löytämään…

The Role of Enculturation in Music-Induced Emotions : A Study on Psychophysiological Responses during Music Listening
2018
Previous cross-cultural studies in music and emotion have mostly focused on emotion recognition and whether basic perceived emotions are recognised across cultures. As a result, the impact of enculturation on music-induced emotions remains largely unexplored. In addition, such studies have relied mainly on subjective self-reports, ignoring other components of emotion such as physiology. Cross-cultural studies have suggested that cultural learning has a differential effect on certain emotional components (subjective feeling, physiology, and facial expression), yet this has not been tested in a music setting. To test this hypothesis, three groups of Finnish, Chinese, and Greek non-musicians l…

Exploring agency and entrainment in joint music-making through the reported experiences of students and teachers
2022
This qualitative interview-based study draws on the reported experiences of students and teachers to explore how agency and entrainment resource and constrain each other in joint music-making. The participants were 23 students of Grades 6 and 11 music teachers from different primary schools. The qualitative content analysis of the 11 student pair interviews and 11 one-to-one teacher interviews indicated that experiences of music-related interpersonal entrainment intertwine with different dimensions of agency. In the analysis, four themes were identified as follows: presence, belonging, safety, and continuity. These findings provide insights into the relationship between agency and entrainme…
