Sublimation of icy aggregates in the coma of comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko detected with the OSIRIS cameras on board Rosetta
2016
Beginning in 2014 March, the OSIRIS (Optical, Spectroscopic, and Infrared Remote Imaging System) cameras began capturing images of the nucleus and coma (gas and dust) of comet 67P/Churyumov¿Gerasimenko using both the wide angle camera (WAC) and the narrow angle camera (NAC). The many observations taken since July of 2014 have been used to study the morphology, location, and temporal variation of the comet's dust jets. We analysed the dust monitoring observations shortly after the southern vernal equinox on 2015 May 30 and 31 with the WAC at the heliocentric distance Rh = 1.53 AU, where it is possible to observe that the jet rotates with the nucleus. We found that the decline of brightness a…
Synthesis, Characterization, Thermal and Antimicrobial studies of N-substituted Sulfanilamide derivatives
2014
Abstract Four sulfanilamide derivatives N -[4-(phenylsulfamoyl)phenyl]acetamide (1), 4-amino- N -phenylbenzenesulfonamide (2), N -[4-(phenylsulfamoyl)phenyl]benzamide (3) and N -{4-[(3-chlorophenyl)sulfamoyl]phenylbenzamide (4) were synthesized and characterized by Infra-Red (IR), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and UV–visible (UV–Vis) spectra. Also Liquid Chromatographic (LCMS) and High Resolution Mass Spectrometric (HRMS) methods were used. Crystal structures of 1–4 were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD) and their conformational and hydrogen bond (HB) network properties were examined with survey of the literature data. Compounds 1 and 2 crystallize in the same orthorho…
The Scope of Zinc Oxide Bulk Growth
2005
The techniques classically used for the growth of bulk ZnO crystals, melt-growth, vapour growth, solution-growth and hydrothermal growth, are reviewed. In the case of vapor growth, numerical simulations suggest that such species as H2 + H2O, CH4, Zn, C or Fe could act as sublimation activators. The electrical and structural properties of crystals obtained by these various techniques are compared.
Some fundamentals of the vapor and solution growth of ZnSe and ZnO
1999
Abstract Some fundamentals of ZnSe and ZnO vapor and solution growth are investigated. Residual water present in gases or gaseous mixtures such as H 2 , Ar or H 2 +H 2 O is shown to act as a sublimation activator in the vapor-phase transport of both compounds. The processes involved in the growth by chemically activated sublimation with such gases and gas mixtures have been studied by close-spaced vapor transport (CSVT). The ZnSe growth rate is found to be constant, while in the ZnO case a high initial growth rate is followed by slower growth subsequently. Using a theoretical model, the thermodynamic constants of the transport – energies of activation, sublimation and condensation and entha…
Analysis of variability in divergence and turn-over induced by three idealized convective systems with a 3D cloud resolving model
2020
Abstract. The sensitivity of upper tropospheric and lower stratospheric convective outflows and related divergence fields is analysed using an ensemble of cloud resolving model (CM1) simulations in LES-mode including various physically manipulated simulations for three different convective systems initialized with an idealized trigger. The main goal of this study is to assess to what extend the divergence field depends on cloud microphysical processes, the mode of convection and on the processes of convective momentum transport and moist static energy redistribution. We find that latent heat release (representing the microphysical uncertainty) plays an essential role by explaining much of m…
η⇌μ exchange bonding mode of bidentate tmeda ligand. Molecular structure of [Y(tmhd)3]2(μ-tmeda)
2003
Abstract The reaction between the yttrium β-diketonate complexes Y(tmhd)3(H2O)x (x=0 or 1) and 0.5 or 1 equivalent of N,N,N′,N′-tetramethylethylenediamine (tmeda=Me2NCH2CH2NMe2) in hexane at room temperature afforded [Y(tmhd)3]2(tmeda) (1) and Y(tmhd)3(tmeda) (2) derivatives, respectively. They have been characterized by FT-IR, 1H NMR spectroscopy and by single crystal X-ray diffraction for 1. Variable temperature 1H NMR experiments indicated an equilibrium between 1 and 2. Their thermal behaviors were characterized by TGA and sublimation experiments. 2 is converted into compound 1 by heating over 100 °C. These precursors were used for the growth of Y2O3 and YBa2Cu3O7 − x films by pulsed in…

Solubility of solid carnosic acid in supercritical CO2 with ethanol as a co-solvent
2005
Abstract The present study is devoted to the experimental measurement and thermodynamic modeling of solid carnosic acid solubility in supercritical CO 2 + ethanol as a co-solvent. Measurements were carried out at temperatures in the range of 313.15 and 333.15 K, pressures ranging from 280 to 400 bar, and at different content of the modifier ethanol (from 0.7 to 10%). The Group Contribution Associating Equation of State (GCA-EoS) [H.P. Gros, S.B. Bottini, E.A. Brignole, High pressure phase equilibrium modeling of mixtures containing associating compounds and gases, Fluid Phase Equilibria 139 (1997) 75–87] was applied in this work to represent the experimental solubility data obtained. Due t…
Chloride–hydrogen interactions of picolinic, nicotinic and isonicotinic acid chloride hydrochlorides in the crystalline state
2003
The crystal structures of the three isomers of the chemically labile pyridinecarboxylic acid chloride hydrochlorides were analyzed in order to study the weak interactions of the chloride anion with hydrogens. The chloride anions in the crystal structure of 1a have a slightly distorted square-planar interaction sphere with four hydrogens in the equatorial plane (plane of the molecule) with Cl−⋯H distances varying from 2.041(1) A [NH+⋯Cl−] to 2.933(1) A [CH⋯Cl−]. Nicotinic and isonicotinic acid chloride hydrochloride 1b and 1c show that chloride anion has a crucial role in the formation of bridged dimeric structures. The crystal lattices of 1b and 1c manifest similar herring-bone packing patt…
In Situ Observations of Ice Particle Losses in a Young Persistent Contrail
2018
We describe results of in situ observations of a 1 to 2-min old contrail in the vortex Phase generated from soot-rich exhaust (> 10^15 emitted soot particles per kg-fuel burned). Simultaneous measurements of soot (EIsoot) and apparent ice (AEIice) particle number emission indices show a pronounced anti-correlation in the vertical contrail profile. AEIice decrease by about 75% with increasing distance below the contrail-producing aircraft, while EIsoot increase by an equivalent relative fraction, therefore strongly suggesting sublimation causing the ice particle losses. Quantifying these losses in measurements helps to validate and improve contrail parameterizations used to estimate the clima…
