Variations of selective separability II: Discrete sets and the influence of convergence and maximality

A space $X$ is called selectively separable(R-separable) if for every sequence of dense subspaces $(D_n : n\in\omega)$ one can pick finite (respectively, one-point) subsets $F_n\subset D_n$ such that $\bigcup_{n\in\omega}F_n$ is dense in $X$. These properties are much stronger than separability, but are equivalent to it in the presence of certain convergence properties. For example, we show that every Hausdorff separable radial space is R-separable and note that neither separable sequential nor separable Whyburn spaces have to be selectively separable. Acute Physiological Responses to Four Running Sessions Performed at Different Intensity Zones

AbstractThis study investigated acute responses and post 24-h recovery to four running sessions performed at different intensity zones by supine heart rate variability, countermovement jump, and a submaximal running test. A total of 24 recreationally endurance-trained male subjects performed 90 min low-intensity (LIT), 30 min moderate-intensity (MOD), 6×3 min high-intensity interval (HIIT) and 10×30 s supramaximal-intensity interval (SMIT) exercises on a treadmill. Heart rate variability decreased acutely after all sessions, and the decrease was greater after MOD compared to LIT and SMIT (p<0.001; p<0.01) and HIIT compared to LIT (p<0.01). Objective: To investigate if the inverse associations of cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) with all-cause and cardiovascular mortality in the general population vary among individuals who are at different pre-test risk. Patients and Methods: CRF was assessed through submaximal bike tests in 58,892 participants aged 40-69 years who completed baseline questionnaires between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2010 in the UK Biobank study. Acute effects of dynamic stretching on mechanical properties result from both muscle-tendon stretching and muscle warm-up

We investigated the acute effects of dynamic stretching on mechanical properties of plantar flexor muscles and tested the hypothesis that it would result from an interaction between muscle-tendon stretching and muscle warm-up. To test the stretching effect, dynamic stretching (DS) was compared to static stretching (SS). Reliability of different models to assess heart rate recovery after submaximal bicycle exercise.

Abstract Objectives : Different models to assess HR recovery have been developed but knowledge of their reliability is poor at different submaximal exercise intensities and recovery durations. Our aim was to determine the reliability of HR recovery after a test on a cycle ergometer. Neuromuscular Fatigue Following Isometric Contractions with Similar Torque Time Integral

Neuromuscular fatigue differs with biofeedback type when performing a submaximal contraction

The aim of the study was to examine alterations in contractile and neural processes in response to an isometric fatiguing contraction performed with EMG feedback (constant-EMG task) when exerting 40% of maximal voluntary contraction (MVC) torque with the knee extensor muscles. A task with a torque feedback (constant-torque task) set at a similar intensity served as a reference task. Thirteen men (26+/-5 yr) attended two experimental sessions that were randomized across days. Endurance time was greater for the constant-EMG task compared with the constant-torque task (230+/-156 s vs. 101+/-32s, P0.01).
