2012
Today, academic failure is closely monitored, especially when first year students are concerned. The aim of this dissertation is the comprehension of the mechanism that builds academic success. The approach is both quantitative and integrative. For this purpose, data have been collected from 700 first year students in social administration, law and psychology areas in the university of Burgundy. Collected information allows to control academic and demographic factors. This dissertation focuses on two aspects : a measure of the student’s cognitive abilities at their entry in the university and a measure of their motivation during the course of the year. The results show that the school backg…

2011
en ligne sur http://www.benthamscience.com/open/toeduj/articles/V004/1TOEDUJ.pdf; International audience; This review examines student progress in higher education based on 28 articles examining 25 large-scale samples of first-year entrants in higher education programs in nine countries. These articles were obtained from a search of published and publicly available research on student departure. Although the results of the studies reviewed are heterogeneous, generalized trends emerge from the synthesis of this body of research on dropout behavior, completion, and time-to-degree. The vast majority of the empirical works reviewed indicate that personal characteristics, family background, prio…
Measuring music artist success
2012
Musiikkiteollisuudella on vuosikymmeniä kestäneet perinteet artistin menestyksen mittaamisessa.

2015
Several measures have been developed for the operalization of well-being, standing out the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS). Validation of an explicative model of the successful aging process with psychological, physical, relational, and leisure variables
2015
Increasingly, research on the aging process tends to adopt a dual perspective emic (specific to a culture) and etic (universal), requiring further studies to address this cross-cultural approach. The aim is to obtain an empirical answer to the question of whether a model of successful aging raised from a different context such as the Taiwanese context, is suitable to represent this process in our elders. The sample consisted of 737 elderly. Socio-demographic-data and different scales to assess life satisfaction, leisure, health, and social support were collected. A structural equation model taken from Lee et al. (2011), in which leisure, health and social support predicted life satisfaction…
RETA A TU MENTE, DESAFÍA A TU CEREBRO: COMPLEJIDAD AMBIENTAL Y SALUD CEREBRAL
2016
Abstract.According to the World Health Organization, it is estimated that more than 30 million people suffer from Alzheimer’s disease in the world. Currently, there is great interest in developing strategies to counteract the cognitive decline that accompanies aging and, to a greater extent, neurodegenerative diseases. The aim of the current study is to analyze the experimental evidence supporting the hypothesis that interventions based on novelty and complexity are more effective in order to achieve successful aging. In animal models it has shown that enriched environments and performing voluntary exercise can improve performance in learning and memory tasks, decrease anxiety response and …

Succession of states in respect of state responsibility: towards yet another Vienna Convention?
2019
The present work analyses the historical evolution of the rules on succession of states as well as provides a review of case law where the Court referred to the concept of state succession to international responsibility, expressly or by implication. The author analyses the wording of the proposed Draft Articles and attempts to establish whether and how the principles of automatic succession and non-succession apply in different circumstances, based on the newly developed provisions. The purpose of the study is to identify the advantages and disadvantages of the proposed Articles as well as discuss whether there is a need for such rules at all, or are the existing legal rules enough.
