How do different network positions affect crowd members' success in crowdsourcing challenges?

2023

In the crowdsourcing challenges, crowd members can interact with each other by, for example, chatting, exchanging feedback, providing advice, discussing, and commenting on ideas. These social interactions shape a network structure, which is a set of social relationships developed by crowd members. This study aims at investigating how occupying diverse network positions within a crowdsourcing challenge network increases the members' likelihood to succeed in a competition. Leveraging prior literature on social networks and crowdsourcing research, we theorize how central and structural hole network positions influence the crowd members' likelihood of winning crowdsourcing challenges by leverag…

La "successione digitale"

2018

The article tackles the issue of digital contents’ regulation after the death of their owner, starting from the scope and content of «digital succession». It continues with the task of determining the regulatory framework concerning the devolution of both economic assets and personal or family memories stored on the Internet, under Italian Law of Succession and EU Regulation n. 650/2012 on European Certificate of Succession. Once considered the US «Revised Uniform Fiduciary Access to Digital Assets Act», the contribution also debates the development of new digital instruments and records, other than will and testament, formed by using online tools (such as Facebook «Legacy Contact»). In the…

Quanto all’art. 591, comma 2°, n. 3, cod. civ., si potrebbe attribuire rilievo non solo all’incapacità totale, bensì anche a quella parziale (come avviene per gli atti inter vivos). Quanto, invece, all’art. 624 cod. civ., si deve prendere in considerazione, ai fini dell’annullamento, dolo e captazione “attenuati”, nel caso in cui, se valu…

Long-term changes in collembolan communities in grazed and non-grazed abandoned arable fields in Denmark

2004

Summary In order to explore long-term changes in microarthropod communities after introduction of livestock grazing in abandoned fields with herb–grass vegetation at Mols, E. Jutland, Denmark, soil and litter samples were collected from 7 pairs (blocks) of grazed and non-grazed plots over a period of 14 years. Sampling began just before fencing and initiation of cattle and sheep grazing in the spring of 1985. The total material included 76 collembolan species; 65 and 68 species were recorded in the grazed and non-grazed plots, respectively. The number of species recorded at individual sampling dates fluctuated considerably through the period. In the vegetation/litter layer the mean number o…

Happiness in advanced adulthood and the elderly

2016

The purpose of this study was to critically analyse the role that positive emotions, flourishing and mindfulness have among the elderly. It was explored how these concepts can contribute to successful aging and higher levels of happiness in this population. To this end, we conducted a non-experimental correlational study with 329 participants, aged from 55 to 98 years. Questionnaires were used to collect data through the following instruments: a socio-demographic questionnaire, Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS), Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) and PANAS (Positive and Negative Affect Schedule), FS (Flourishing scale), PST (Positivity test), MHI-5 (Mental Health Inventory -- 5).

Reproductive success ofDactylorhiza incarnatassp.incarnata(Orchidaceae): the effects of population size and plant visibility

2007

Reproduction of plants pollinated solely by flower-visiting animals depends on the ability of the population and each of its flowering member to attract pollinators. Factors affecting the pollination of nectarless species differ somewhat from those affecting the pollination of rewarding species due to the avoidance behaviour of pollinators after visiting empty flowers. We studied a non-mimic food-deceptive orchid, Dactylorhiza incarnata ssp. incarnata, in 16 populations in central Finland to examine if population properties and plant size affected reproductive success of plants. We found that the number of flowering plants increased total pollinia removal and seed production of the populati…

Sources of variation in survival and breeding site fidelity in three species of European ducks

2002

Summary 1  We used long-term capture–recapture–recovery data and a modelling approach developed by Burnham (1993) to test a priori predictions about sources of variation in annual survival rates and fidelity within a population of individually marked females in three species of European ducks from a breeding ground study site in Latvia. 2  True annual survival was higher for diving ducks (tufted duck 0·72, common pochard 0·65) and lower for northern shoveler (0·52). Survival of female diving ducks was positively correlated with mean winter temperatures at Western European wintering areas, the relationship being much stronger for pochard. 3  We present the first unbiased estimates of breedin…
