Abstract During the past decade, the field of family language policy has broadened its scope and turned its attention to diverse family configurations in versatile sociolinguistic contexts. The current study contributes to this endeavor by focusing on two single-parent families who live in Finland and who strive to support Russian as a family language. Applying nexus analysis as an epistemological stance and as an analytical lens, the study takes an emic perspective on family language policy. The research approach utilises Niklas Luhmann’s functional method approach, regarded as an observational tool to create a distinction between problems and solutions. Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin mitkä tekijät auttavat terveydenhuollon työntekijöitä puuttumaan lähisuhdeväkivaltaan. Kiinnostus kohdistui erityisesti siihen, minkä varassa työntekijät rakentavat puuttumista mahdollistavaa puhetta. Analyysissa lähtökohtana oli sosiaalisesti jaettu tieto, eli se, kuinka ihmiset yhdessä tulkitsevat ja rakentavat sosiaalisia ilmiöitä ja niiden merkityksiä. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on tarjota syvällisempää ymmärrystä suomalaisten mainonnan alan ammattilaisten ajatuksista ja kokemuksista mainonna suhteen. Mainonta on ollut hyvin yleinen tutkimusaihe akateemisesti, mutta akateemisten tulosten käytettävyytta ja sovellettavuutta haluttiin selvittää tarkemmin. Tutkimuksen taustalla toimi kaksi aiempaa tutkimusta, jotka oli suoritettu Englannissa vuonna 2006 ja Yhdysvalloissa vuonna 2009. Time-resolved classification of dog brain signals reveals early processing of faces, species and emotion

Dogs process faces and emotional expressions much like humans, but the time windows important for face processing in dogs are largely unknown. By combining our non-invasive electroencephalography (EEG) protocol on dogs with machine-learning algorithms, we show category-specific dog brain responses to pictures of human and dog facial expressions, objects, and phase-scrambled faces. We trained a support vector machine classifier with spatiotemporal EEG data to discriminate between responses to pairs of images. Designing parenting interventions and preventions requires knowledge on the factors and processes that shape parenting behaviors. Using data collected over 10 days, during the last hour of work and before going to bed, this study examined the spillover of interpersonal work stresses into positive and negative parenting behaviors. Data were collected among 103 couples who had at least one child between the age of one and eight years. Social and health care professionals' views on responsible agency in the process of ending intimate partner violence

This article examines social and health care professionals’ views, based on their encounters with both victims and perpetrators, on the division of responsibility in the process of ending intimate partner violence. Applying discourse analysis to focus group discussions with a total of 45 professionals on solutions to the problem, several positions of responsible agency in which professionals place themselves and their clients are identified. The results suggest that one key to understanding the complexities involved in violence intervention lies in a more adequate theorization of the temporal and intersubjective dimensions of the process of assigning responsibility for the problem.
