International audience; The recently proposed spectral shear interferometry and the well-known z-scan techniques were employed for the determination of the nonlinear refractive index n2 of CS2, toluene and fused silica. The determined n2 values by both techniques were found to be in very good agreement. In addition, the role of the repetition rate of the laser is also investigated revealing its importance for the correct determination of both the size and the sign of the nonlinearity.

A procedure for supporting silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) on nylon is proposed. Besides, the membrane has been developed as a solid-phase colorimetric plasmonic sensor for volatile sulfide compounds (VSCs) like H2S, CH3SH, and (CH3)2S. AgNP behavior in the membrane has been studied by UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectrometry, Raman spectrometry, High-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Abstract Five sodium 1,2-nitrosonaphtholsulfonatea were prepared or purified and their thermal behaviour studied by TG, DTG and DSC. Pyrolysis MS technique was used to identify evolved gases and FTIR to characterize residuals. The water contents depended on preparation and conservation. The decomposition was analysed in three stages which can be formed by one or more steps. The final product was sodium sulfate in air at 530 °C and the mixture of carbon and sodium sulfide at 950 °C in nitrogen. The structure effects on decomposition is discussed.

The present study relates to the problem of the long-term interim storage of nuclear wastes. In France, it is envisaged that high-level radioactive wastes will be confined in a glass matrix, stored in a stainless steel canister, itself placed in a carbon steel overpack. The wastes will then be stored at a depth of ~450 m in a deep geological disposal, drilled in a very stiff (indurated) clay (argillite) formation. A temperature as high as 90°C is expected at the steel surface because of the intense radioactivity.
