How alternative food networks work in a metropolitan area? An analysis of Solidarity Purchase Groups in Northern Italy
2019
AbstractOur paper focuses on Solidarity Purchase Group (SPG) participants located in a highly urbanized area, with the aim to investigate the main motivations underlining their participation in a SPG and provide a characterization of them. To this end, we carried out a survey of 795 participants involved in 125 SPGs in the metropolitan area of Milan (Italy). Taking advantage of a questionnaire with 39 questions, we run a factor analysis and a two-step cluster analysis to identify different profiles of SPG participants. Our results show that the system of values animating metropolitan SPG practitioners does not fully conform to that traditionally attributed to an alternative food network (AF…
Role of alternative food networks in Sicilian farms
2014
Today the short supply chain can be carried out through several typologies which are called as alternative food networks (AFNs). In fact, according to some studies, it is an 'alternative' response to the dominant agro-food system, which offers the possibility to produce food products through supply chains that are opposed to long, complex and rationally organised industrial chains. In the last years many European farmers adopted short supply chain to commercialise their agro-food products and Italy is one of the EU members in which AFNs are developed, thanks to its numerous typical an local products. The aim of this paper has been to analyse the role that AFNs play in Sicilian farms and how…

The results showed that 28% of the respondents could be defined as alternative food entrepreneurs. Significant differences between alternative and conventional food entrepreneurs were related to perceptions towards c…
Money and equity returns in the Euro area
2010
Abstract This study examines the impacts of liquidity on equity returns in the euro area during the period 1987–2001. The main contribution of the study is that the money demand is carefully considered while estimating the liquidity. We provide evidence that in part the impact of money on equity returns depended on the measure used for liquidity (real money supply, real money gap and monetary overhang). However, a unanimous inference was made that over time an increase in liquidity has a negative impact on equity returns. This is interpreted as being due to the positive impact of money on inflation. Accordingly, an increase in liquidity generated expectations of inflation, which led to a de…
Supply chain finance: The role of credit rating and retailer effort on optimal contracts
2021
Abstract Supply chain finance aims at finding the best financing arrangements within a given buyer-supplier dyad. The source of capital can be internal (buyer or supplier) or external (financial institution) to the supply chain. So far, many studies have investigated the optimal mix of the sources of capital; our study aims at contributing to the recent literature that explores the interface of operations and finance extending the supplier-based financing models. As the Covid-19 pandemic hits economic activity, the financial constraints have ever greater importance; knock-on effects of the Covid-19 crisis urges on the critical role of a supply chain that should provide financial resources, …
Agri-food Supply Chain Traceability for Fruit and Vegetable Cooperatives Using Blockchain Technology
2019
Regulation as determinant of EUA prices
2014
In this paper we analyse the impact of supply and demand factors on EUA Phase II future prices, with a particular emphasis on the European Commission announcements regarding the organisation of Phase II and Phase III of the European Union Emission Trading Scheme. A review of green supply chain management: From bibliometric analysis to a conceptual framework and future research directions
2018
Abstract This study reviews the green supply chain management (GSCM) literature and proposes a comprehensive view of the structural associations amongst the GSCM factors, viz. drivers, practice indicators and performance measures. The HistCite software was used to perform bibliometric citation meta-analysis on a sample of 1523 articles, obtained from the ISI Web of Science database. Influential journals, institutions, and trending articles in the GSCM research are revealed. Co-citation analysis coupled with content analysis of the 39 most cited articles identified six underlying research streams, namely (a) conceptual development and sense-making, (b) GSCM impact on performance, (c) integra…
Labour supply with habit formation
2002
Abstract In a model with habit-forming labour supply we show that standard myopic utility maximisation of a person weakly addicted to a harmful habit is consistent with empirical results on labour supply.
