Tearful crying is a ubiquitous and likely uniquely human phenomenon. Scholars have argued that emotional tears serve an attachment function: Tears are thought to act as a social glue by evoking social support intentions. Initial experimental studies supported this proposition across several methodologies, but these were conducted almost exclusively on participants from North America and Europe, resulting in limited generalizability. Abstract Regions across the world are searching for ways to fashion new green growth paths and to promote green shifts in mature industries. The article aims to explore conceptually and based on illustrative empirical examples from the literature how green restructuring unfolds in regions. We propose a framework that explicates how regional preconditions in form of pre-existing industrial structures, organisational support structures, institutional set-ups and natural assets are transformed into various types of green path development through agentic processes of asset modification.

Heterogeneity of traditional and digital media use among older adults: A six-country comparison

Abstract The concept of aged heterogeneity has been associated with older adults' ability to adapt to the digital age without a systematic empirical analysis. We analyse retired adults' (aged 62 or more) use of traditional media and their digital equivalents in six countries. First, we ask whether heterogeneity in traditional and digital media use increases with age. Second, we study to what extent gender is related to this heterogeneity, and third, the country differences in the heterogeneity of media use in later life. Longitudinal Leisure Activity Profiles and Their Associations with Recovery Experiences and Job Performance

We aimed to identify longitudinal leisure activity profiles among working adults and their links to recovery experiences and job performance. Leisure activities, recovery experiences, and job performance were investigated among 831 employees using survey data collected in spring 2013 (T1) and 2014 (T2). Soft computing-based aggregation methods for human resource management

Abstract We are interested in the personnel selection problem. We have developed a flexible decision support system to help managers in their decision-making functions. This DSS simulates experts’ evaluations using ordered weighted average (OWA) aggregation operators, which assign different weights to different selection criteria. Moreover, we show an aggregation model based on efficiency analysis to put the candidates into an order.
Applying Cathegorical Metrics on Fuzzy Systems

This work analyzes the categorical metrics usage on a very specific subset of Intelligent Systems: Fuzzy Systems. Several characteristics for such systems must be carefully evaluated when metrics and indicators are defined, in order to consider the fuzzy essence as part of the evaluation result. A set of metrics and indicators are defined and applied to the classical inverted pendulum problem. The paper does not intend to provide an exhaustive analysis of the quality evaluation on soft computing problem. It just presents a way to start the study of quality measure in that area.
