A classification study of kinematic gait trajectories in hip osteoarthritis
2014
The clinical evaluation of patients in hip osteoarthritis is often done using patient questionnaires. While this provides important information it is also necessary to continue developing objective measures. In this work we further investigate the studies concerning the use of 3D gait analysis to attain this goal. The gait analysis was associated with machine learning methods in order to provide a direct measure of patient control gait discrimination. The applied machine learning method was the support vector machine (SVM). Applying the SVM on all the measured kinematic trajectories, we were able to classify individual patient and control gait cycles with a mean success rate of 88%. With th…
Fixed Implant-Supported Full-Arch Prosthesis in Epidermolysis Bullosa With Severe Symptoms
2016
Oral rehabilitation with dental implants in patients with recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa : a retrospective study with 2-15 years of follo…
2019
Background Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) comprises a group of hereditary disorders characterized by mechanical fragility of the skin and mucous membranes, with the development of blisters and vesicles in response to minimum tissue friction. Recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (RDEB) with generalized involvement is the most common subtype in the oral cavity. The present study was carried out to investigate dental implant survival, peri-implant tissue condition, patient satisfaction, and the impact of treatment upon the quality of life of patients with RDEB rehabilitated with implants and full-arch implant-supported prostheses. Material and Methods Thirteen patients with RDEB underwent de…
Clinical and radiographic performance of self‐locking conical connection implants in the posterior mandible: Five‐year results of a two‐centre prospe…
2021
Abstract Objective This prospective study aims to assess the 5‐year clinical performance of implants with internal conical connection and platform‐switched abutments in the posterior mandible. Material and Methods Healthy adults missing at least two teeth in the posterior mandible and with a natural tooth mesial to the implant site received two or three adjacent implants. After a transmucosal healing period single crown restorations were cemented on platform‐switched abutments. Changes in marginal bone levels were investigated in standardized periapical radiographs from surgery and loading (baseline) to 60‐months post‐loading. Results Twenty‐four patients received 52 implants. Bone remodell…
Determinants of homonym and synonym rates of record linkage in disease registration.
1996
AbstractReliable record linkage is an essential component of the quality of population-based disease registration. Quality assessment of disease registries should, therefore, include quantitative approaches to describe the extent of record-linkage errors. The homonym and synonym rates have been proposed for this purpose. The homonym rate quantifies the proportion of distinct patients excluded from registration due to erroneous linkage with other patients. The synonym rate quantifies the proportion of unrecognized duplicate notifications on patients already registered in the registry. This paper provides an algebraic assessment of the determinants of both rates. It is shown how the homonym a…
Children evoke similar affective and instructional responses from their teachers and mothers
2015
In the present study, we examined the extent to which the responses of teachers and mothers toward a particular child are similar in respect to their instructional support and affect, and whether child characteristics predict these responses. The data of 373 Finnish child–teacher–mother triads (178 girls, 195 boys) were analysed. Teachers and mothers reported their instructional support and affective responses toward a child in the school/homework context in Grades 1, 2, 3, and 4. At the beginning of Grade 1, the children’s performance in reading and math was tested, and teachers evaluated the children’s externalizing and internalizing problem behaviour. The results demonstrated that mothe…
Derivation and Validation of a Chronic Total Coronary Occlusion Intervention Procedural Success Score From the 20,000-Patient EuroCTO Registry : the …
2019
Objectives: The aim was to establish a contemporary scoring system to predict the outcome of chronic total occlusion coronary angioplasty. Background: Interventional treatment of chronic total coronary occlusions (CTOs) is a developing subspecialty. Predictors of technical success or failure have been derived from datasets of modest size. A robust scoring tool could facilitate case selection and inform decision making. Methods: The study analyzed data from the EuroCTO registry. This prospective database was set up in 2008 and includes >20,000 cases submitted by CTO expert operators (>50 cases/year). Derivation (n = 14,882) and validation (n = 5,745) datasets were created to develop a …
The design of an agent based model of human activities and communications in cardiac resuscitation
2015
International audience; Cardio-pulmonary arrest is a common emergency situation causing over 400,000 deaths per year, more than a 1000 per day, in the USA alone. The goal of this work is to develop an agent based computer simulator that will allow trainers to experiment with different communication protocols, such as those found in air traffic control. This paper describes the first step in designing the simulator development. The design is based on an analysis of communications during real life training simulations using the FIPA standard categories.
The tools like evidences of metal working? : strike supports, abrasives and burnishers, sharpening tools and crushing tools
2013
Lots of lithic tools are present in Metal Ages, but few are studied. In metal production, they are especially constitued by strike supports, abrasives, burnishers, sharpening tools and crushing tools. A part of them are in metal ( strike supports) or in ceramic (abrasives, sharpening tools). Contemporary forms of these tools are too different to permit a dierct comparison. It is necessary to work on the function of the tools, deduced from the analysis of these structure. Strike supports used for metal working are easily identifiable. They allow to reproduce more or less precisely the objects that they were fabricated with. Abrasives are difficult to relate to a material, but the traces of u…
Influence of Some Psychosocial Factors on Mobbing and its Consequences Among Employees Working with People with Intellectual Disabilities
2012
Background The problem of mobbing has attracted a great deal of attention over the past few years. This concern has increased the study of the phenomena, which has resulted in many scientific publications. Mobbing has been characterized as an emerging risk at work. The aim of this study was to analyse the influence of some psychosocial factors at work ‐ role clarity, interpersonal conflicts and social support ‐ on mobbing and its consequences ‐ that is, inclination towards absenteeism and psychosomatic disorders. Materials and methods The sample included 422 employees working with people with intellectual disabilities. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was used to test the hypotheses. Res…
