The Pd3(dppm)3(CO)2+ Cluster: An Efficient Electrochemically Assisted Lewis Acid Catalyst for the Fluorination and Alcoholysis of Acyl Chlorides.

2002

The dicationic palladium cluster Pd3(dppm)3(CO)2+ (dppm = bis(diphenylphosphino)methane) reacts with acid chlorides RCOCl (R = n-C6H13, t-Bu, Ph) to afford quantitatively the chloride adduct Pd3(dppm)3(CO)(Cl)+ and the acyl cation RCO+ as the organic counterpart. The dicationic reactive cluster can be reformed by electrolyzing the chloride complex with a copper anode leaving CuCl as a byproduct. The combination of these two reactions provides an electrocatalytic way to form the acylium from the acid chloride. Indeed, in CH2Cl2, 0.2 M NBu4PF6, or NBu4BF4, the electrolysis of the acid chloride in the presence of a catalytic amount of the cluster (1%) gives in good yields the acid fluoride RCO…

Electrochemical incineration of oxalic acid at boron doped diamond anodes: Role of operative parameters

2008

The electrochemical incineration of oxalic acid (OA) at boron doped diamond (BDD) anodes was investigated both theoretically and experimentally in order to find the influence of the operative parameters on the performances of the process. Polarization curves and chronoamperometric measurements indicate the probable occurrence of a direct electrochemical oxidation of OA at the surface of the BDD anode at low pH and of a hydroxyl radical-mediated reaction at high pH. When incineration electrolyses are performed at low pH with potentiostatic alimentation, a dramatic influence of the potential is observed. In amperostatic incineration, high CE are obtained when most part of the process was unde…

Experiences from global e-collaboration: Contextual influences on technology adoption and use

2005

The article presents a cross-case comparison of experiences from organizational adoption and use of e-collaboration technologies in two large global companies. Challenges in the global implementation process were found to increase with the organizational and geographical scope of the implementation, level of autonomy in the adoption process, cultural diversity, technological heterogeneity, and level of work process support embedded in the system. Alignment with existing collaborative work practices resulted in faster adoption of the technological solution. Highly competitive conditions restricted the resources available for training and experience transfer between projects. Clients’ prefere…

Social Housing Conditions Modulate the Long-Lasting Increase in Cocaine Reward Induced by Intermittent Social Defeat

2019

Social defeat is considered the most representative animal model for studying the consequences of social stress. Intermittent social defeat (ISD) has proved to enhance the response to cocaine hedonic properties. In the present research, we evaluated if different social housing conditions, as housing with a familiar conspecific or with a female, exert a protective effect modulating the negative consequences of ISD as the increased sensitivity to cocaine and the induction of anxiety-like behavior. To achieve this objective, non-stressed or ISD OF1 male mice were divided into five different experimental groups according to their social environment: standard housing (four adult males per cage);…

Método: 760 estudiantes universitarios, incluyendo 379 españoles (83.1% mujeres) y 381 ecua-torianos (76.6% mujeres), completaron las escalas Trait Meta Mood Scale, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, Satisfaction With Life Sca…

Classroom interaction and literacy activities in kindergarten : Longitudinal links to grade 1 readers at risk and not at risk of reading difficulties

2017

The purpose of the present study is to establish how the quality of kindergarten classroom interactions and the frequency of literacy activities affect reading development among Grade 1 children—both those who are at risk and not at risk of developing reading difficulties. Interaction was assessed in terms of classroom organization, and the level of emotional and instructional support offered in 49 kindergarten classrooms in Finland using the CLASS (Classroom Assessment Scoring System). Kindergarten teachers also recorded the frequency of literacy activities in their classrooms. The phonological awareness and letter knowledge of 515 children (i.e., their pre-reading skills) were assessed at…

Student behavioral engagement as a mediator between teacher, family, and peer support and school truancy

2014

This study investigated the associations between student's behavioral engagement; teacher, family, and peer emotional support; and school truancy. Student-reported data of 821 Finnish junior high school students were analyzed using structural equation modeling. Teacher and family support were positively associated with student behavioral engagement, which in turn was negatively associated with truancy. Behavioral engagement mediated the associations between teacher and family emotional support and truancy. The results highlight the pivotal roles of teacher and family emotional support in fostering student behavioral engagement and preventing truancy in junior high schools. Students who are …
