ATTACHMENT TO PLACE AND COMMUNITY TIES IN TWO SUBURBS OF JYVÄSKYLÄ, CENTRAL FINLAND

This article describes varied place attachments manifested in public (communal) places in the two socioeconomically weakest suburbs of the city of Jyväskylä in central Finland. We conducted ethnographic research and observations, interviewed local experts on their views of the suburbs, and analysed discourses from various places where residents’ experiences of identity and social relations are connected to residential and community attachment. Our results show a strong connection to place evolving in both suburbs through bonds to the physical and the social environment. International audience; Cocrystallization of 7,7′,8,8′-tetracyanoquinodimethane radical anion (TCNQ −•) and 3-methylpyridinium-1,2,3,5dithiadiazolyl radical cation (3-MepyDTDA +•) afforded isostructural acetonitrile (MeCN) or propionitrile (EtCN) solvates containing cofacial π dimers of homologous components. Loss of lattice solvent from the diamagnetic solvates above 366 K affords a high-temperature paramagnetic phase containing discrete TCNQ −• and weakly bound π dimers of 3-MepyDTDA +• , as evidenced by X-ray diffraction methods and magnetic susceptibility measurements. Single-molecule magnet properties of a monometallic dysprosium pentalene complex

The pentalene-ligated dysprosium complex [(η8-Pn†)Dy(Cp*)] (1Dy) (Pn† = [1,4-(iPr3Si)2C8H4]2−) and its magnetically dilute analogue are single-molecule magnets, with energy barriers of 245 cm−1. Whilst the [Cp*]− ligand in 1Dy provides a strong axial crystal field, the overall axiality of this system is attenuated by the unusual folded structure of the [Pn†]2− ligand. peerReviewed

Understanding responses of marine species to temperature variability is essential to predict impacts of future climate change in the oceans. Most ectotherms are expected to adjust their behavior to avoid extreme temperatures and minimize acute changes in body temperature. However, measuring such behavioral plasticity in the wild is challenging. Summary Monoclonal antibodies have been raised against different antigenic determinants of normal rabbit hepatocytes. One antibody (2D3) recognized a liver-specific 43 kDa protein displayed exclusively on the basolateral portion of the hepatocellular membrane. Purified monoclonal antibodies were injected intravenously into rabits. Following the injection of antibody 2D3, a dose-dependent increase of liver enzyme activities in sera was observed.
