The principal goal of the paper is to identify the influence of the industrial sphere on the development of and changes in a city, according to rules of sustainable development. The first part of the article is devoted to industrial objects and area which have existed for about 20 years and are characterized by huge changes. It is important to answer the questions: how changes in the case of an obsolete industrial area are related to social and environmental spheres, and what should be done in the case of a negative influence of the industrial sphere on the other two. Simulating and assessing prospective scenarios

The first part of the paper is centered on the phenomena of urban growth, in order to set the rules for a sustainable scenario of urban development. Then we enter the core of the paper that is the comparison of models. For each of the three compared models, we describe its main theoretical characteristics, the chosen parameters, and the obtained results. In section 6, heterogeneity of the produced results is discussed, and we highlight the points of interest and the lacks of the three models. Celem opracowania jest identyfikacja problemów związanych z wdrażaniem w gospodarstwach rolnych województwa opolskiego strategii zrównoważonej intensyfikacji. Materiał pierwotny do badań zebrano w 2014 roku metodą wywiadu kwestionariuszowego w 100 celowo dobranych gospodarstwach rolnych o powierzchni powyżej 10 ha UR w subregionach reprezentatywnych dla rolnictwa regionu. Na podstawie badań stwierdzono, że rolnicy najczęściej wybierają trajektorię rozwojową, polegającą na powiększaniu areału posiadanej ziemi, przy jednoczesnym dostarczaniu dodatkowych usług środowiskowych. Abstract There has been growing interest in policy and among scholars to consider culture as an aspect of sustainable development and even as a fourth pillar. However, until recently, the understanding of culture within the framework of sustainable development has remained vague. In this study, we investigate the scientific discourse on cultural sustainability by analyzing the diverse meanings that are applied to the concept in scientific publications.
