Tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli selvittää kuinka hyvin Jyväskylän yliopiston tietotekniikan laitoksen opiskelijoiden taidot vastaavat toimialan tarpeita. Tietoa opiskelijoiden osaamisesta saatiin heille tehdystä kyselystä sekä tietotekniikan kandidaatin tutkinnon osaamistavoitteista. Tietoa yritysten tarpeista kerättiin alan työpaikkailmoituksista sekä Keski-Suomen alueen yrityksille tarjottujen PROFIT-koulutusten aiheista. Saatuja tietoja vertaamalla saatiin selville, että opiskelijoiden taidot vastaavat hyvin toimialan tarpeita sekä kansallisesti, että Keski-Suomessa.

Spectrotemporally complex sounds carry important information for acoustic communication. Among the important features of these sounds is the temporal duration. An event‐related potential called mismatch negativity indexes auditory change detection in humans. An analogous response (mismatch response) has been found to duration changes in speech sounds in rats but not yet in mice. We addressed whether mice show this response, and, if elicited, whether this response is functionally analogous to mismatch negativity or whether adaptation‐based models suffice to explain them. The present research offers an intercultural communication perspective on language diversity and power relations at modern work environment. Experimental results have revealed the sophisticated Achilles tendon (AT) structure, including its material properties and complex geometry. The latter incorporates a twisted design and composite construction consisting of three subtendons. Each of them has a nonstandard cross-section. All these factors make the AT deformation analysis computationally demanding. Generally, 3D finite solid elements are used to develop models for AT because they can discretize almost any shape, providing reliable results. Simultaneous production of furfural and levulinic acid from pine sawdust via acid-catalysed mechanical depolymerization and microwave irradiation

In this work pine sawdust was converted into levulinic acid (LA) and furfural. Sawdust was first pre-treated with sulfuric acid-catalysed mechanical depolymerization. The conversion reactions were then performed with microwave heating at 180 °C. To enhance the furfural yield and the efficient separation of furfural and LA, a biphasic water-toluene reaction system was used. The effect of an additional catalyst, AlCl3, on the yield of LA and furfural was also studied. According to the results the pre-treatment method enhanced the yields of LA.
