Chryseobacterium potabilaquae sp. nov., Chryseobacterium aquaeductus sp. nov. and Chryseobacterium fistulae sp. nov., from drinking water systems

A polyphasic taxonomic study was conducted on three strains isolated from drinking water systems that had previously been deposited as Chryseobacterium species at the Spanish Type Culture Collection in order to complete their classification. Strains CECT 9293T, CECT 9390T and CECT 9393T were isolated from sites in Barcelona, Spain, in the framework of a project aimed at generating the first MALDI-TOF database specific for bacteria present in water for human consumption. Their partial 16S rRNA sequences showed that their closest relatives among the type strains of Chryseobacterium exhibited 98 % similarity or less, supporting their taxonomic novelty. Exploring the yeast biodiversity of green table olive industrial fermentations for technological applications

In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in identifying and characterizing the yeast populations associated with diverse types of table olive elaborations because of the many desirable technological properties of these microorganisms. In this work, a total of 199 yeast isolates were directly obtained from industrial green table olive fermentations and genetically identified by means of a RFLP analysis of the 5.8S-ITS region and sequencing of the D1/D2 domains of the 26S rDNA gene. Viability and larva-to-adult development of three strains of Drosophila melanogaster (one wild strain and two eye mutant strains: cardinal and sepia) were studied under three different situations: A. Spectroscopic studies of Tl containing high frequency electrodeless lamps

In this work we estimate gas temperature from OH rotational spectrum at 306.4 nm and C 2 Swan band at 516.5 nm in thallium containing lamps during two working regimes: stable generation and self-modulation regime. The usage of both molecules allowed us to estimate gas temperature in different zones of the discharge. The measurement results show that the central part of discharge has temperature higher for about 400 K than in vicinity of lamp inner walls. The measurement results of self-modulation regime showed that rotational temperature variations are similar to that of atomic and molecular spectral line intensities with period being around 1 minute. Electrical conductivity as a state indicator for the start-up period of anaerobic fixed-bed reactors.

The aim of this work was to analyse the applicability of electrical conductivity sensors for on-line monitoring the start-up period of an anaerobic fixed-bed reactor. The evolution of bicarbonate concentration and methane production rate was analysed. Strong linear relationships between electrical conductivity and both bicarbonate concentration and methane production rate were observed. On-line estimations of the studied parameters were carried out in a new start-up period by applying simple linear regression models, which resulted in a good concordance between both observed and predicted values. Portable instrumentation is largely used in archaeometry for in-field measurements at museums and archaeological sites. The historic evolution of pigments is closely related to the technology developments in past cultures and provides relevant clues regarding their knowledge advancement. Abstract Reaction of [1,1′-isopropylidene-3,3′-di-tert.butyl-bis(η5-cyclopentadienide)] dilithium with TiCl3, followed by treatment with HCl, and ZrCl4 in various solvent mixtures in the temperature range 0–50°C gives corresponding ansa-metallocene dichlorides as mixtures of the anti/syn-isomers, 1:1. The crystal and molecular structures of three of the four isomers were determined, i.e. rac(anti)-[1,1′-isopropylidene-3,3′-di-tert.butyl-bis(η5-cyclopentadienyl)]TiCl2, space group B2/b, rac(anti)-[1,1′-isopropylidene-3,3′-di-tert.butyl-bis(η5-cyclopentadienyl)]ZrCl2, space group P212121, and meso(syn)-1,1′-[isopropylidene-3,3′-di-tert.butyl-bis(η5-cyclopentadienyl)]ZrCl2, space group P21/n.
