Bedrock and soil geochemistry influence the content of chemical elements in wild edible mushrooms (Morchella group) from South Italy (Sicily)
2019
Chemical elements in the samples of wild edible mushrooms of the Morchella group collected from different unpolluted Sicilian sites was analyzed by the ICP-MS (method) to detect the content of their minerals and determine whether soil geology and geochemistry can influence the chemical composition in fungi. Results showed that the mushroom samples mainly contained a high concentration of K and P and a wide variety of minor and trace elements (V, Mo, Pb, Ce, Cs, Zr), including heavy metals. Statistical analysis showed that the mushrooms differed in their content of minor and trace elements based on the geological/geographic site of origin. Comparison with other studies s…
Continuous subcutaneous Insulin infusion leads to immediate, table, and long-term changes in metabolic control
2008
Background: Evaluations of continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) usually focus on one pre- and one post-CSII measurement to assess metabolic therapy outcome. Aim: Extending this research, the aim of the present study was to provide a more fine-grained analysis of achieved glycaemic control. Methods: In 52 patients with type 1 diabetes (mean age of 37.85 years at CSII begin; s.d. ± 12.41), haemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels were assessed every 3 months over a period of 5 years (1 year before and 4 years after the introduction of CSII). Mixed models were utilized to describe changes in glycaemic control. Results: The pre–post course showed that already in the first quarter, a statis…
Actual and Potential Pedagogical Use of Tablets in Schools
2013
This study reviews the potential of tablet technology for teaching and learning. In autumn 2012, we conducted a focused survey comprising quantitative and qualitative questions with Finnish teachers (N = 171, from 54 schools). We focused on perceived pedagogical opportunities and the actualized pedagogical potential of tablets at schools. The survey results indicate that the actual usefulness of tablets in schools was significantly less than what teachers perceived as the pedagogical potential. However, the results demonstrate the positive impact these devices are having on teaching and learning, as well as prompting changes in pedagogical perspectives. Teachers stated that tablets can dive…
Mobilie līdzekļi skolēnu vārdu krājuma paplašināšanai pamatskolas angļu valodas stundās
2018
Izmantojot pētījumā iegūtos datus, Diplomdarba autors sasniedza mērķi izstrādāt vadlīnijas skolotājiem, kuri vēlās izvairīties no jebkādām iespējamām grūtībā…
Tablet-tietokoneiden käyttö ihmisen biologian opetuksessa : tapaustutkimus 9. luokan oppilailla
2015

2015
Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on selvittää, mitä musiikkitoimintaa oppilaat tekevät vapaa-ajallaan ja millainen tablet-tietokoneilla harjoitettu koulun musiikkitoiminta siirtyy oppilaiden vapaa-aikaan. Tavoitteena on myös selvittää, miten tablet-tietokoneiden käytön määrä ja sisältö vapaa-ajalla kehittyy tutkimusjakson aikana. Tutkimus toteutettiin vuoden 2014 keväällä. Tutkimusaineisto kerättiin yhdeltä alakoulun neljänneltä luokalta, jonka jokaisella oppilaalla oli käytössään henkilökohtainen tablet-tietokone. Tutkimus toteutettiin järjestämällä oppilaille tablet-tietokoneisiin painottuva 4 kuukauden pituinen tutkimusjakso musiikissa. Aineisto kerättiin kyselylomakkeilla, haastatteluilla ja t…
Peripersonal Visuospatial Abilities in Williams Syndrome Analyzed by a Table Radial Arm Maze Task
2020
Williams syndrome (WS) is a genetic deletion syndrome characterized by severe visuospatial deficits affecting spatial exploration and navigation abilities in extra-personal space. To date, little is known about spatial elaboration and reaching abilities in the peripersonal space in individuals with WS. The present study is aimed at evaluating the visuospatial abilities in individuals with WS and comparing their performances with those of mental age-matched typically developing (TD) children by using a highly sensitive ecological version of the Radial Arm Maze (table RAM). We evaluated 15 individuals with WS and 15 TD children in two different table RAM paradigms: the free-choice paradigm, ma…
N,N-Dicyclohexylnitramine
2016
Molecules of the title compound, C12H22N2O2, are composed of an nitramine group substituted by two cyclohexane rings. The cyclohexane rings have chair conformations, with the exocyclic C—N bonds in axial orientations. In the crystal, C—H...O hydrogen bonds connect the molecules intoC(6) [-101] zigzag chains.
It takes time to see the menu from the body: an experiment on stable isotope composition in freshwater crayfishes
2015
For many applications and ecological studies in which wild individuals are brought to laboratory it would be essential to know accurately how fast novel diet is reflected in composition of different tissues. To study the effects of two different diets on the stable isotope composition of freshwater crayfish muscle and hemolymph, we conducted a three month experiment on noble crayfish (Astacus astacus) and signal crayfish (Pacifastacus leniusculus) by feeding them sweet corn (Zea mays) or Baltic herring (Clupea harengus membras) as novel food. During the experiment, the crayfish were given 0.4 g of selected food daily and the amount consumed was recorded. The samples for the stable isotope a…
