Architecture and Language for Semantic Reduction of Domain-Specific Models in BPMS

2012

Nowadays each business process management system (BPMS) supports either an industry standard or its own specific modeling language. But no BPMS supports a specific language for each organization. We propose an architecture for building BPMS that allows creating a domain-specific modeling language for every client easily. The main problem is to bridge the gap between the domain-specific language and the executable language. We show that we can look at this problem as a classification of the domain-specific language constructs in the terms of the executable language. To solve this problem we present a novel model transformation language, with which this type of problem can be solved more natu…

Low invasive multisensor acquisition system for real-time monitoring of cardiovascular and respiratory parameters

2020

The recent advances in multiparametric monitoring of biosignals and management of big data prompt for the development of devices and techniques for the extraction of indicators with physiological relevance. In this context, we have designed and realized a portable electronic system, equipped with simple biomedical sensors, able to synchronously record multiple electrocardiographic (ECG), photoplethysmographic (PPG) and breathing signals, for carrying out a non-invasive monitoring of several cardiovascular parameters. In this work, we show the results of preliminary measurements performed following a specific physiological protocol (i.e., deep breathing with 10 s per cycle). The system allow…

Should I use touchscreen tablets rather than computers and mice in TDS trials?

2016

International audience; Internet technologies are increasingly used as tools in sensory analysis. Thus, it would be a natural step forward for sensory science to move beyond the laboratory, into people's homes. Therefore, working with consumer IT devices like touchscreen tablets in sensory science should be taken into consideration. Working with the intuitive concept of dominance, Temporal Dominance of Sensations (TDS) requires a non-analytical answer from the subject. Using a touchscreen tablet instead of a classic mouse could reduce the cognitive load and favor a more instinctive answer. Indeed, it was proven that touch interaction is natural and efficient, and that finger pointing is fas…

Portability in analytical chemistry: a green and democratic way for sustainability

2019

International audience; Recent advances in portability of analytical equipment have been considered to enlighten the advantages offered by portable instrumentation on greening the analytical methods. Their use drastically reduces sampling, sample stockage, and transport, thus avoiding environmental side effects and risks, also improving decision-making. The fact that portable instrumentation is, in general, less expensive than bench instruments and apparatuses makes also available the analytical tools for extended sectors of the population, thus making accessible the advantages derived from analytical methods. The role of sensor technology and portable miniaturized systems has been consider…

DSMAV: An improved solution for multi-attribute search based on load capacities

2016

DHT (Distributed Hash Table) such as CHORD or PARTRY facilitates information searching in scalable systems. Two popular DHT-based approaches for range or multi-attribute search are to rely on attribute-value tree and a combination of attributes and values. However, tradeoff between a load balancing mechanism and query efficiency is a challenging task for such information searching systems. In this paper, we propose improved algorithms for a system called DSMAV in which information resources are distributed fairly among nodes and found based on multi-attribute queries in a small number of hop counts. Our system creates identifiers from resource names, each of which is a combination of attrib…

A Formal Semantics and a Client Synthesis for a BPEL Service

2008

A complex Web service described with languages like BPEL4WS, consists of an executable process and its observable behaviour (called an abstract process) based on the messages exchanged with the client. The abstract process behaviour is non deterministic due to the internal choices during the service execution. Furthermore the specification often includes timing constraints which must be taken into account by the client. Thus given a service specification, we identify the synthesis of a client as a key issue for the development of Web services. To this end, we propose an approach based on (dense) timed automata to first describe the observable service behaviour and then to build correct inte…

Knowledge-based verification of concatenative programming patterns inspired by natural language for resource-constrained embedded devices

2020

We propose a methodology to verify applications developed following programming patterns inspired by natural language that interact with physical environments and run on resource-constrained interconnected devices. Natural language patterns allow for the reduction of intermediate abstraction layers to map physical domain concepts into executable code avoiding the recourse to ontologies, which would need to be shared, kept up to date, and synchronized across a set of devices. Moreover, the computational paradigm we use for effective distributed execution of symbolic code on resource-constrained devices encourages the adoption of such patterns. The methodology is supported by a rule-based sys…

Magnetization states in ultrathin films with laterally modulated anisotropies

1998

Abstract Micromagnetic theory has been applied to a model system for ultrathin films with laterally modulated anisotropies, consisting of a periodic array of stripes with alternating uniaxial anisotropies. Despite of the discontinuous change of anisotropy, the magnetization direction only changes on a lateral scale given by the exchange length. If the width of one of the two alternating stripes is reduced below a critical value, the magnetization will switch into a uniform state. The variation of the critical width with period, anisotropy constants, exchange constant, and film thickness has been determined using an analytic approach. Non-uniform magnetization states and the magnetization re…
