Data-driven design of robust fault detection system for wind turbines

Abstract In this paper, a robust data-driven fault detection approach is proposed with application to a wind turbine benchmark. The main challenges of the wind turbine fault detection lie in its nonlinearity, unknown disturbances as well as significant measurement noise. To overcome these difficulties, a data-driven fault detection scheme is proposed with robust residual generators directly constructed from available process data. A performance index and an optimization criterion are proposed to achieve the robustness of the residual signals related to the disturbances. The use of floating cover directly applied on top of the crop is rapidly increasing on leafy vegetables like lettuce as a simple, inexpensive and effective technique to induce earliness. Two lettuce types, ‘Iceberg’ and ‘Romaine’, under two different crop management systems (black plastic mulch and black plastic mulch combined with floating cover) were tested in Sicily in 2007. Plug type transplants were planted at the end of January on double rows. The nonwoven floating cover was applied after transplanting. Dynamic identification of a reinforced concrete frame in progressive states of damage

Two, full size, reinforced concrete frames were put on a shaking table and underwent seismic excitations with increasing intensities. The aim of the reported experiment was to study changes in their dynamic, modal parameters due to development of cracks in concrete. Dynamic identification of these frames was carried out through diagnostic tests interlaced with the damaging excitations. This paper presents the results of their identification in various states of damage, using low level non-destructive damage estimation methods. The paper is devoted to the investigation of seismic response of the masonry structure and describes experiences with modelling of boundary conditions during the test of large heavy model on 6DOF shaking table. The main aim of the research was how to increase dynamic resistance capacity of old masonry buildings including the medium and strong seismic effects. The results of theoretical and numerical analyses are compared including initial forecasting calculations made before any test started. Abstract Based on the reviews of Behrndt, Iwata, Duval, Jenemann and Gast, we present a chronology of vacuum microbalance techniques in table form. The earliest discoveries of weights and balances are dated to about 3000 B.C. In the 19th century, balances were operated in vacuum for meteorological purposes. Thermogravimetry began with Talabot who, in 1833 in Lyon, equipped a laboratory with thermobalances for quality control of Chinese silk. At the beginning of the 20th century, microbalances were placed in high-vacuum apparatus.

Biomonitoring of glyphosate and AMPA in the urine of Spanish lactating mothers

The objectives of this study were to evaluate the urinary levels of Glyphosate (Gly) and its metabolite aminomethylphosphonic acid (AMPA) in Spanish breastfeeding mothers (n = 97), to identify the main predictors of exposure and to perform a risk assessment. Urine samples were analyzed using a method based on solid phase extraction and liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) determination. The developed method showed limits of quantification of 0.1 μg/L for both analytes. The detection frequencies (DFs) were 54% for Gly and 60% for AMPA, with geometric means (GMs) of 0.12 μg/L and 0.14 μg/L, respectively.
