Abstract Forests play a crucial role in the transition towards a bioeconomy by providing biomass to substitute for fossil-based materials and energy. However, a policy-policy conflict exists between the desire to increase the utilization of bio based renewable resources and the desire to protect and conserve biodiversity. Tutkimus käsittelee Suomen ja Neuvostoliiton välistä turistimatkailua. Suomi oli neuvostoliittolaisille tärkein turistikohde kapitalististen maiden joukossa ja neuvostoliittolaiset olivat yksi suurimmista matkustajaryhmistä Suomeen kylmän sodan ajanjaksolla. Suomalaiset turistit taas olivat merkittävä matkustajaryhmä Neuvostoliitolle ja varsinkin Itämeren kaupungeille Tallinnalle ja Leningradille. Integrating insights from new institutional economics and studies on the collapse of past empires, we sketch a process model that links economic degrowth to the collapse of institutional orders. Our thought experiment starts from emphasizing the importance of institutions and enforcement mechanisms in maintaining a sufficient level of economic activity to sustain public costs. We flip this established logic and elucidate the negative role of economic degrowth in the weakening of the public sector’s ability to enforce institutional rules. Sir Thomas More's Utopia : An overlooked economic classic

Sir Thomas More's Utopia, published in 1516, is a classic work of how to organise a society based on common property. With a unique mix of common property, institutions and sound economic insights, we argue that More built a framework for a society that could be viable in the long run. While the conditions that make Utopia work are quite restrictive, it does provide a sketch of a society where common property may not stifle long‐term development, but is associated with productive workers and people content with their lives. peerReviewed
