Electrochemical characterization of iron sites in ex-framework FeZSM-5

2002

Abstract The electrochemical response of FeZSM-5 prepared by an ex-framework method has been studied using Paraloid B72 polymer film electrodes immersed in aqueous media using H2SO4, HCl, Na2EDTA and NaCl electrolytes. The ex-framework method comprises the hydrothermal synthesis of isomorphously substituted FeZSM-5, followed by calcination at 823 K and subsequent steam treatment (300 mbar H2O in N2) at 873 K. During this process iron is extracted to extra-framework positions. Also partial dealumination of the zeolite framework takes place. Characteristic voltammetric responses in the +1.0 to −0.6 V versus SCE potential range have been recorded and were used to characterize the iron species …

N-heterocyclic carbenes and parent cations: acidity, nucleophilicity, stability, and hydrogen bonding-Electrochemical Study and ab initio calculations

2016

N-Heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) are widely used as organocatalysts. Their reactivity (and instability) is related to their basicity and nucleophilicity, which, in turn, are linked to their scaffold. NHCs can be generated by chemical deprotonation or electrochemical reduction of the parent azolium cations, NHCH+s. Cyclic voltammetry enabled the reduction potential of the NHCH+s to be determined; the reduction potential is related to the acidity of the NHCH+s and the oxidation potential of the NHCs, which is related to the nucleophilicity of the NHCs. It was thus possible to order different NHCH+s and NHCs by their acidity and nucleophilicity, respectively. A study on the stability of NHCs was…

Redox tuning and species distribution in Maya Blue-type materials: a reassessment.

2013

Maya Blue-type specimens prepared from indigo (1 wt %) plus kaolinite, montmorillonite, palygorskite, sepiolite, and silicalite are studied. Liquid chromatography with diode array detection, ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry, and pyrolysis-silylation gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analyses of the extracts from these specimens combined with spectral and solid-state voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and scanning electrochemical microscopy techniques provide evidence for the presence of a significant amount of dehydroindigo and isatin accompanying indigo and other minority organic compounds in all samples. Solid-state electrochemist…

Detection of archaeological forgeries of Iberian lead plates using nanoelectrochemical techniques. The lot of fake plates from Bugarra (Spain)

2014

Identification of forgeries is of considerable interest in studies of archaeological signariums and written Iberian artifacts, elements of capital importance for the knowledge of that culture, because there are many Iberian inscribed lead plate counterfeits circulating in the market and among many museum funds. A case study of identification of forgeries of archaeological lead using voltammetry of microparticles (VMP) and scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM), aided by conventional optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM/EDX) is described. The electrochemical methods are essentially non-invasive so can be applied to samples of nanoscopic size. Application to the authen…

Molecular Engineering of Iridium Blue Emitters Using Aryl N‐Heterocyclic Carbene Ligands

2016

The synthesis of a new series of neutral bis[2-(2,4-difluorophen-2-yl)pyridine][1-(2-aryl)-3-methylimidazol-2-ylidene]iridium(III) complexes is reported. Each complex has been characterized by NMR spectroscopy, UV/Vis spectrophotometry, and cyclic voltammetry, and the photophysical properties examined in depth. Furthermore, two of the complexes have been characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. By systematically modifying the cyclometalating aryl group on the N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligand from 2,4-dimethoxyphenyl to 6-methoxy-2-methyl-3-pyridyl, the energy levels of the Ir complexes were modified to produce new blue emitters with increased HOMO and triplet-state ene…

Heterocyclic systems containing antimony (III) -VIII . Hypervalency by intramolecular 1,5-chelation Sb · · · N in rings RSb [ (CH2) 3] 2NR′ (NR′ = NM…

1998

Abstract Eleven antimony compounds RSb [ (CH2) 3] 2 NR′ and eight germanium compounds R2Ge [ (CH2) 3] 2 NR′ (some combinations of R = Cl, I, NCS, OSiPh3, Ph, and NR′ = NMe, NBz, NBui) have been synthesized by diGrignard reactions and subsequent treatment with AgSCN, Ph3SiONa or PhLi. The compounds were compared to 14 Sn, 1 As, 5 Sb and 4 Bi analogues taken from the literature. Evidence is provided for 1,5-chelation Sb · · · N via crystal structure determinations (5+1 (lit) Sb compounds) , 13C- and 29Si-NMR chemical shifts, 12;Sb and 12;I Mossbauer data (11 and 3 Sb compounds, respectively) , cyclic voltammetry (9 Sb compounds) and semi-empirical MO calculations on the Extended Huckel level …

Adsorption enrichment of some azo dye complexes on a carbon paste electrode and its application to the determination of small concentrations of cobal…

1974

The azo dyes eriochrome black T, eriochrome blueblack R and eriochrome blueblack B and their complexes with cobalt, manganese and magnesium show adsorption enrichment on carbon paste electrodes, dependent on the composition of the electrode filling. This effect may be used for the determination of cobalt and manganese by a.c. voltammetry in the 10−7 to 10−6 M range. Standard deviation has been found to be ± 3.2 and ± 3.5%, respectively.

Alternating current voltammetric determination of DNA damage

1990

Abstract The conditions for alternating current (a.c.) voltammetric DNA determinations have been investigated with respect to its use with alkaline filter elution techniques at low DNA concentrations. In inorganic electrolyte solutions three current peaks can be distinguished: peak I around −1.1 V caused by the reorientation or desorption of DNA segments; peak II around −1.2 V caused by the native DNA (nDNA) form; peak III caused by denatured DNA (dDNA) at −1.4 V. Sonication of nDNA increases the peak current, however not with dDNA. Both dDNA and nDNA give linear peak current increments with DNA increments, their regression lines cutting the concentration axis at the origin. In filter eluti…
