Insect repellent and chemical agronomic treatments to reduce seed numberin'Afourer'mandarin. Effect on yield and fruit diameter
2019
Abstract Obtaining citrus fruits without seeds is a recurrent objective for farmers as it is one of the most valued characteristics, especially in mandarins. ‘Afourer’ tangor is a highly valuable well-established mandarin, and a high percentage of seeded fruits are produced under cross-pollination conditions. Several agronomic techniques have been suggested to control presence of seeds, such as covering with nets and copper sulfate (CuSO4) and gibberellic acid (GA3) treatments. Natural bee repellents are also proposed to reduce the number of seeds per fruit. In this study, we aimed to compare the effect of several agronomic treatments to reduce the seed number in 'Afourer' mandarin. To this…
Characterization of eight microsatellite loci for the sea urchin Meoma ventricosa (Spatangoida, Brissidae) through Next Generation Sequencing.
2015
Eight microsatellite loci were characterized for Meoma ventricosa (Lamarck, 1816), a burrowing sea urchin that can be afflicted by a bacterial disease causing localized mass mortality. For the analyzed population (29 individuals from St. Croix, US Virgin Islands), we observed 8.125 mean number of alleles, 0.640 mean observed heterozygosity (Ho) and 0.747 mean expected heterozygosity (He). Two loci showed significant deviations from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. Overall, the described loci were characterized by a moderately highlevel of polymorphism suggesting that these markers are useful for a population genetic studyin the Caribbean Sea.
Affective temperaments in tango dancers.
2015
Background: Links between affective temperaments and folk culture have been infrequently explored systematically. Creativity and personality and temperament studies, conversely, have reported several associations. Tango is one of the most typical Argentinean folk dance-musical repertoires. The main purpose of this study is to compare affective temperaments between Argentinean professional tango dancers and the general population. Methods: TEMPS-A was administered to a sample of 63 professional tango dancers and 63 comparison subjects from the general population who did not practice tango. Subscale median scores and total median scores with non-parametric statistics were analyzed. Results: M…
La Cumparsita: a source of lawsuits Contursi and Maroni vs. Matos Rodríguez
2016
This article deploys Tango along with the lawsuits concerning to whom participated in the elaboration of “La Cumparsita” and its lyrics as a frame of reference for discussing about copyrights and intellectual property. In addition to giving an opinion about the procedure to arrive at the final solution related to the adjudication of the copyrights along its effects of that in each one of the beneficiaries, the author tell us a little bit of the process of creating this musical composition as well as the scope it had during its time. El presente artículo utiliza al Tango, a los pleitos y personajes que participaron en la elaboración de La cumparista y sus letras, como marco referencial para …
The inconvenience yield of carbon futures
2021
Abstract Since 2009, the European Carbon Futures Market has been in a permanent contango situation that is characterised by systematic negative convenience yields that allow investors to exploit profitable arbitrage opportunities. The objective of this paper is to analyse the possible drivers of these negative convenience yields. Our empirical results indicate that although some carbon trading variables are behind this contango situation, the carbon inconvenience yield is better explained if other financial markets and variables are considered, suggesting a financialization of the European Carbon Futures Market.
La Fama dell'Ottangolo palermitano di Giovan Battista Maringo
2011
2014
In multiaxial fatigue analysis using the critical plane approach, the shear stress amplitude has to be evaluate using proper numerical procedures that elaborate the points of the curve described by the tip of the shear stress vector acting in the analyzed plane. The calculation has to be carried out in several planes centred in the analyzed material plane; furthermore, in the analysis of a component, it has to be repeated in several points. In this paper a procedure that allows to noticeably reduce both the number of planes and the number of points in which it is necessary to evaluate by means of the onerous procedures, with a considerable reduction of the computational times.
UN NUOVO METODO PER LA DETERMINAZIONE DELL’AMPIEZZADELLA TENSIONE TANGENZIALE NEI CRITERI DI FATICA MULTIASSIALE BASATI SULL'APPROCCIO DI PIANO CRITI…
2013
Tuberculation in spatangoid fascioles: Delineating plausible homologies
1998
The existing definition of spatangoid fascioles as a narrow band of minute tubercles (miliaries) is inadequate. One reason is that many intermediates between the presence of indisputable fascioles and their total absence are known. Although fascioles are widely used in the classification of spatangoids, diversity of fasciole tuberculation has largely been ignored. We examine fascioles in about 100 spatangoid species, focusing on the earliest manifestations of fascioles (both developmentally and phylogenetically) and on their variable tuberculation. Qualitative observations are complemented by quantitative analyses (ANOVA and PCA) of 21 species. Three types of fascioles are defined according…
Notes on selected Cretaceous echinoids from south-central Sakhalin, Far East Russia
2013
AbstractFrom Albian, Santonian and Campanian strata in south-central Sakhalin, four echinoid taxa are described, illustrated and discussed. In Far East Russia, echinoids are rare constituents amongst mid- and Late Cretaceous macrofaunal assemblages in which inoceramid and non-inoceramid bivalves, plus heteromorph and non-heteromorph ammonites predominate. The sole regular species in the present lot is represented by an incomplete external mould of a primary spine of a rhabdocidarid,Polycidaris(?) sp., from the lower Campanian. Irregular taxa include a fragmentary, specifically indeterminate ‘pygurid’,Echinopygus(?) sp., of late Albian age, as well as two spatangoids. One of these, a toxaste…
