Background Recent epidemiological evidence shows that colorectal cancer (CRC) continues to occur in carriers of pathogenic mismatch repair (path_MMR) variants despite frequent colonoscopy surveillance in expert centres. This observation conflicts with the paradigm that removal of all visible polyps should prevent the vast majority of CRC in path_MMR carriers, provided the screening interval is sufficiently short and colonoscopic practice is optimal. However, the ways in which datafied environments relate to experienced vulnerabilities in our everyday lives remain unclear. Through diaries produced by and interviews with participants from three groups who occupy presumably vulnerable positions and who currently live in Finland, we explore the ways in which people challenge expectations and prior assumptions related to forced visibility. Humans have shown a detection advantage of direct vs. averted gaze stimuli in visual search tasks. However, instead of attentional capture by direct gaze, the detection advantage in visual search may depend on attention-grabbing potential of the distractor stimuli to which the target needs to be compared. We investigated attentional capture by direct gaze using the change blindness paradigm, in which successful detection does not require comparison between the target and the distractor items. Children as social actors negotiating their privacy in the digital commercial context

This study advances research on children’s negotiation of online commercial privacy by identifying an act of digital agency by children that may serve their current needs but can also impact children negatively. Secondly, it identifies certain factors children consider while evaluating the trustworthiness of apps and websites before disclosing information online. Eight focus group discussions with children (13–16 years) in Finland’s capital region are analysed using thematic analysis. Kemikaalien yhteisvaikutuksien riskinarviointi ja tarkkailu on mahdotonta pelkkien fysikaalis-kemiallisten testien voimin. Täten onkin kehitelty biologisia menetelmiä, joiden avulla näiden monimuotoisten seosten haitallisuutta voidaan tarkkailla. Tämän tutkimuksen lähtökohta on yhteiskunnallinen tilanne, jossa elektroninen valvonta alkaa olla läsnä jokapäiväisessä elämässämme yhä enenevässä määrin. Järvenpään lukion vuonna 2003 käyttöön vihityssä uudessa koulurakennuksessa niin oppilaat kuin henkilökuntakaan eivät pääse liikkumaan ulko-ovista sisään tai koulun käytävien väliovista lävitse ilman henkilökohtaisia elektronisia tunnisteita. Lisäksi koulussa on niin sisä- kuin ulkopuolellakin nauhoittavaa kameravalvontaa.
