Back to School : Labor-Market Returns to Higher Vocational Schooling
2019
This paper examines the labor-market returns to a new form of postsecondary vocational education: vocational master's degrees. We use individual fixed effects models on a matched sample of students and non-students from Finland to capture any time-invariant differences across individuals. We find that attendance in vocational master's programs leads to an earnings increase of more than seven percent five years after entry. The estimated effect remains positive even if selection on unobservables is twice as strong as selection on observables. Earnings gains are similar by gender and age, but they are marginally higher for those in the health sector than for those in the business or technolog…
Role-specific critical success factors in incident management : case energy management system company
2010
The main goal of the thesis is to find out the Critical Success Factors (CSF) for the roles involved in the Incident Management Process (IMP). As Incident Management is often among the first IT service management processes that organizations implement, more understanding on the process is needed. The thesis approaches the subject based on the roles involved in the process. To define the subject matter, the emerging branch of services science is presented based on literature along with the concepts of IT service management and Service Level Agreements (SLA). The presentation of IMP is based on the IT service management frameworks of ITIL and CobiT. Even though the frameworks have increased i…
Mafic alkaline metasomatism in the lithosphere underneath East Serbia: evidence from the study of xenoliths and the host alkali basalts
2010
Effects of mafic alkaline metasomatism have been investigated by a combined study of the East Serbian mantle xenoliths and their host alkaline rocks. Fertile xenoliths and tiny mineral assemblages found in depleted xenoliths have been investigated. Fertile lithologies are represented by clinopyroxene (cpx)-rich lherzolite and spinel (sp)-rich olivine websterite containing Ti-Alrich Cr-augite, Fe-rich olivine, Fe-Al-rich orthopyroxene and Al-rich spinel. Depleted xenoliths, which are the predominant lithology in the suite of East Serbian xenoliths, are harzburgite, cpxpoor lherzolite and rare Mg-rich dunite. They contain small-scale assemblages occurring as pocket-like, symplectitic or irreg…

Sapphire-bearing magmatic rocks trace the boundary between paleo-continents: A case study of Ilmenogorsky alkaline complex, Uralian collision zone of…
2021
Abstract Metamorphic gem corundum (mainly ruby) deposits are robust indicators of continent-continent collision processes. However, a systematic link of primary magmatic blue sapphire occurrences to orogenic belts is less understood. An example is the Ilmenogorsky alkaline complex, within the Ilmen Mountains region and part of the Uralian orogenic belt. The mobile belt is a product of the collision among Kazakhstania, Laurussia, and Siberia continents prior to the closure of the Paleo-Uralian ocean and formation of the Laurasia supercontinent (330–250 Ma). It is believed that the alkaline complex became inсluded into the separate Sysertsk-Ilmenogorsk microcontinent with unconstrained border…
Puumala- ja lehmärokkoviruksen vaikutus metsämyyrän (Myodes glareolus) metaboliaan
2012
Taudinaiheuttajat, kuten virukset ovat usein haitallisia isäntälajilleen. Virusinfektiot voivat heikentää mm. isäntälajinsa lisääntymistä ja selviytymistä, vaikka ne eivät aiheuttaisikaan näkyviä oireita isäntälajeilleen. Jyrsijöiden yksi yleisimmistä viruksista on hantaviruksiin kuuluva Puumala-virus, jonka isäntälaji on metsämyyrä (Myodes glareolus).
Geochemical characteristics of Cretaceous carbonatites from Angola
1999
Abstract The Early Cretaceous (138–130 Ma) carbonatites and associated alkaline rocks of Angola belong to the Parana-Angola-Etendeka Province and occur as ring complexes and other central-type intrusions along northeast trending tectonic lineaments, parallel to the trend of coeval Namibian alkaline complexes. Most of the Angolan carbonatite-alkaline bodies are located along the apical part of the Mocamedes Arch, a structure representing the African counterpart of the Ponta Grossa Arch in southern Brazil, where several alkaline-carbonatite complexes were also emplaced in the Early Cretaceous. Geochemical and isotopic (C, 0, Sr and Nd) characteristics determined for five carbonatitic occurren…
Vironkielisten osallistujien kielitaito Yleisten kielitutkintojen suomen kielen testissä
2021
Vaikka aiemman tutkimuksen valossa suomen kielen taidon tason onkin nähty riippuvan…
Age and metasomatic alteration of the Mt Neill Granite at Nooldoonooldoona Waterhole, Mt Painter Inlier, South Australia
2001
Quartz feldspar augen gneisses, quartz augen schists and trondhjemites outcrop at Nooldoonooldoona Waterhole in the southwestern corner of the Proterozoic Mt Painter Inlier, northern Flinders Ranges, South Australia. These rocks were previously interpreted as having different origins and ages. However, we argue that all rock types were the result of deformation and strong metasomatic alteration of one common precursor: the Mt Neill Granite. Our conclusion is based on field observations that show that the different lithologies grade into each other and that intrusive contacts are lacking. Whole rock major and trace element analyses also point to a common protolith. Finally, Pb/Pb dating of m…
