Conquering the liminal space : Strategic social media influencer communication in the Finnish public sector during the COVID-19 pandemic
2022
Public sector organisations have traditionally used mass media and their own communication channels to communicate urgent matters to citizens. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has forced these organisations to look for new communication approaches. In Finland, several public-sector organisations collaborated with social media influencers (SMIs) to maximise their efforts in communicating about the measures needed to constrain the spread of the virus. Using a multiple-case study design, this chapter scrutinises four public-sector organisations and their collaboration with SMIs during the pandemic in 2020. We found that public organisations turned to SMIs through influencer marketing and influen…

Dialogisen tutkivan oppimisen työtavat vastavalmistuneiden luokanopettajien opetuksessa
2016
Ympäristö- ja luonnontiedon luokanopettajankoulutukseen panostamista ja opettajien jatkokouluttamista suositellaan opetushallituksen (2006) tekemässä luonnontieteiden oppimistulosten arviointia koskevassa tutkimuksessa. (ks.

Technical and strategic orientations have dominated the field of environmental management research as well as corporate practices. The research task here is to describe and interpret the rhetoric forms that are used to produce acceptable environmental action in Finnish business, with a special interest on environmental values and stakeholder relations produced in the studied data. I adhere to the school of new rhetoric that suggests that difference between rhetoric …
The use of digital analytics for measuring and optimizing digital marketing performance
2016
Demonstrating the monetary outcomes of marketing is no longer considered a virtue but a necessity by the top management. Marketers are increasingly held accountable for their actions, yet most marketers struggle in their attempts to measure marketing performance. The emergence of digital analytics tools (e.g., Web analytics) has raised optimism of improved measurability due to its ability to track customer behavior in the digital environment. However, research lacks a clear understanding of the opportunities and limitations of digital analytics, and what it takes from an organization to make the most of its usage. The dissertation advances the knowledge in this area by investigating how ind…
Co-creation with Companies : A Means to Enhance Societal Impact of University Researchers?
2019
In this chapter, we explore co-creation as a form of societal interaction of science. We approach co-creation as a goal-oriented form of dynamic interaction aiming at mutual benefit of all parties. As such, we exclude technology transfer and other linear societal interaction forms that follow a closed-model innovation format. We argue that focusing solely on tapping the needs of researchers and ‘pure’ science would lead to ignoring the broader context in which researchers work. An excessive focus on meeting the needs of external stakeholders could jeopardize the preconditions of science. Hence, this chapter explores how researcher-company co-creation can be nurtured in a heavily institution…
