Las palabras del imperio, gobernabilidad y gobernanza
2013

Controlled education of patients after stroke (ceops)-nurse-led multimodal and long-term interventional program involving a patient''s caregiver to o…
2018
Background Setting up a follow-up secondary prevention program after stroke is difficult due to motor and cognitive impairment, but necessary to prevent recurrence and improve patients’ quality of life. To involve a referent nurse and a caregiver from the patient’s social circle in nurse-led multimodal and long-term management of risk factors after stroke could be an advantage due to their easier access to the patient and family. The aim of this study is to compare the benefit of optimized follow up by nursing personnel from the vascular neurology department including therapeutic follow up, and an interventional program directed to the patient and a caregiving member of their social circle,…
Factitious disorders and pathological self-harm in a hospital population: an interdisciplinary challenge.
2002
Factitious disorder, Munchausen's Syndrome, and deliberate self-harm have recently been conceptualized as different facets of self-destructive behavior. A descriptive typological classification has been presented by Willenberg et al., but has not yet been tested with a clinical sample. The instrument distinguishes between direct self-harm (e.g., self-inflicted wounds), self-induced disease (e.g., factitious fever), and indirect self-harm delegated to medical staff (e.g., repeated operations occasioned by feigned symptoms). All patients referred to the psychosomatic-psychotherapeutic liaison-consultation service or to the outpatients' department within 14 months (n = 995) and all patients di…
Preliminary Thermo-Mechanical Design of the Once Through Steam Generator and Molten Salt Intermediate Heat Exchanger for EU DEMO
2020
The European DEMOnstration power plant (DEMO) is considered to be the nearest-term fusion reactor capable of producing several hundred MWs of net electricity, operating with a closed tritium fuel-cycle (achieving the tritium self-sufficiency), and qualifing technological solutions for a fusion power plant with different breeding blanket (BB) concepts that are under investigation. The BB is a key component for the development of the DEMO plant design and, in particular, of those systems having the responsibility to remove the plasma-generated thermal power and its conversion in the electrical energy. This study deals with the preliminary thermo-mechanical design of the heat exchangers and st…
Sensitivity Analysis of the MASLWR Helical Coil Steam Generator Using TRACE
2011
Accurate simulation of transient system behavior of a nuclear power plant is the goal of systems code calculations, and the evaluation of a code's calculation accuracy is accomplished by assessment and validation against appropriate system data. These system data may be developed either from a running system prototype or from a scaled model test facility, and characterize the thermal hydraulic phenomena during both steady state and transient conditions. The identification and characterization of the relevant thermal hydraulic phenomena, and the assessment and validation of thermal hydraulic systems codes, has been the objective of multiple international research programs. The validation and…
Citrus cybrid leaf essential oil
2000
The essential oil from the leaves of a Citrus cybrid plant, obtained by somatic hybridization between ‘Valencia’ sweet orange (Citrus sinensis L. Osbeck), embryogenic parent, and ‘Femminello’ lemon (C. limon L. Burm f.), leaf parent, has been studied by steam distillation and GC–MS analysis and compared with the correspondent oils from the parent plants. Although the overall composition of the cybrid essential oil appears much closer to that of ‘Femminello’, the relatively higher percentage of β-caryophyllene, as well as the qualitative and quantitative modifications of the esteric fraction, are characteristic of the new hybrid. Since cybrid cells possess the nuclear genome of the mesophyll…
A model for a national clinical final examination in the Swedish bachelor programme in nursing
2011
Aim To describe the development and evaluation of a model for a national clinical final examination in the bachelor nursing education. Background After the transfer of nursing education to the academy, concerns have been raised among nurses, nurse leaders, lecturers and researchers about the nursing students clinical competence at the entrance to professional life. Methods During 2003 to 2005, a collaborative project was carried out between four universities and adjunctive health-care areas supplying clinical placements in Sweden. A two-part examination was agreed upon comprising a written theoretical test and a bedside test. An assessment tool for the bedside test was created. Nursing studen…
Integration of oncology and palliative care: a Lancet Oncology Commission.
2018
© 2018 Elsevier Ltd Full integration of oncology and palliative care relies on the specific knowledge and skills of two modes of care: the tumour-directed approach, the main focus of which is on treating the disease; and the host-directed approach, which focuses on the patient with the disease. This Commission addresses how to combine these two paradigms to achieve the best outcome of patient care. Randomised clinical trials on integration of oncology and palliative care point to health gains: improved survival and symptom control, less anxiety and depression, reduced use of futile chemotherapy at the end of life, improved family satisfaction and quality of life, and improved use of health-…
