Antecedents of daily team job crafting

2017

This study investigated potential antecedents of team job crafting defined as the extent to which team members engage together in increasing (social and structural) job resources and challenges, and decreasing hindering job demands. Mindful of the teamwork literature, we hypothesized that individual employee factors (self-efficacy for teamwork, daily affect), team features (team cohesion, climate) and the organizational context of teams (engaging leadership and organizational resources for teamwork) relate positively to daily team job crafting behaviour. Data were collected among 46 multi-professional rehabilitation teams whose members completed two daily surveys after their weekly meetings…

Free E-Collaboration Tools as a Support for Leading Virtual Teams

2011

Vuorenmaa, Antti Free E-Collaboration Tools as a Support for Leading Virtual Teams Jyväskylä: University of Jyväskylä, 2011, 29 p. Information Systems, Bachelor’s Thesis Supervisor(s): Seppänen, Ville This Bachelor's thesis is a study of the current freely available e-collaboration tools as solutions to problems of leading a virtual team. The research is conducted as a review of literature on the field of virtual teaming, with a brief overview of the tools available. There are three restrictions imposed on the research area: the technology is re-stricted to collaboration tools. This set of tools is further diminished by the start-up-entrepreneurial perspective, which dictates that the tools…

Learning teamwork through a computer game: for the sake of performance or collaborative learning?

2021

AbstractOur study examined using a computer-based learning game as a tool to facilitate teaching and learning teamwork skills. The game was applied to an undergraduate level human resource management course at a business school in Finland. We focused on students’ experiences and key learning outcomes of collaborative learning of teamwork skills through the game, and our analysis highlighted two key features of learning outcomes. First, the computer-based learning game promoted students’ self-reflection and evaluation of their individual team roles. Second, although the game taught students the importance of continuous information sharing in teamwork, their evaluation of team outcomes was pe…

Athlete leadership behavior : how it relates to perceived team cohesion and players' satisfaction in elite sport teams

2014

So far only little is known about athlete leadership. Instead, previous research in sports leadership focused on the role a coach plays within sport teams. Yet, first studies could raise awareness for the importance of athlete leaders who occupy a formal or informal role in a team. Initial research results showed a significant impact of athlete leadership behavior on perceived team cohesion and the satisfaction of team members. Additionally, the concept of motivational leadership was recently introduced and claimed to be one of the most important functions leaders may overtake. Thus, this study aimed to confirm former findings and extent the knowledge by taking a new behavior pattern of mot…

Ties, Leaders, and Teams: A Social Network Approach

2014

To examine the theoretical and empirical implications of integrating the network and team literatures, we opened three different research lines. First, we argued that leader multiplex ties with their team members fulfilled important functions for team performance. In support of our hypotheses, analysis of data from 84 teams of a Spanish public service organization suggested that leaders’ centrality in their teams’ multiplex networks comprising both advice and friendship ties predicted longitudinal change in team performance, above and beyond members’ own multiplex ties. Beyond main effects, leader multiplex ties differentially interacted with members’ own network ties. We discussed theoreti…

A Time to Lead : Changes in Relational Team Leadership Processes over Time

2020

This study analyzes how team members perceive changes in relational leadership processes over time. Interview data from three virtual teams ( N = 18) were analyzed using qualitative thematic analysis. The findings illustrate how ideals of well-functioning leadership and teamwork communication can differ both between and within teams at different times. Team members may perceive benefits of the passage of time in teamwork, including experienced closeness, adjustment, and clarification of practices, as well as challenges such as rigidity and historical baggage. Organizations and teams may experience a shift in the ideals of leadership, but adapting to and adopting new forms of leadership over…

Consumers' attitude towards rice cooking processes in Korea, Japan, Thailand and France

2013

UT: 000317947100009; International audience; Concerns and attitudes towards nutrition, health, safety, commodity, and sensory appeal are the factors determining cooking processes in one's everyday life. A picture-word matching task was conducted in order to compare consumer's opinion on seven common rice-cooking processes (rinsing, soaking, adding other kinds of rice, cereals, and beans, brown rice germination, rapid-boiling, pressure-cooking, and steaming) in Korea, Japan, Thailand, and France. The results showed that, in each country, the more familiar a cooking process is, the more it is associated with sensory quality. Pressure-cooking, soaking and rapid-boiling were positively matched …

Pre-service and in-service teachers' experiences of inquiry-based primary science teaching : A collaborative team teaching model

2019

This research clarifies how a collaborative team teaching model (CTTM) can support both pre-service and in-service teachers’ professional development in using inquiry-based science teaching in primary schools. The data were collected via a questionnaire-based survey approach after inquiry projects implementation at public schools in four Finnish cities. In total, 98 pre-service teachers and 51 inservice class teachers were involved in the research. According to their experiences collaborative team teaching was seen as an adequate teaching approach in primary school science lessons. Both in-service and pre-service teachers experienced inquirybased science teaching enthusiastically and receiv…
