The appealing properties of surfactant-intercalated Montmorillonites (Organo-montmorillonite, OMt) were successfully investigated to propose an effective drug delivery system for metronidazole (MNE) antibiotic therapy. This represents a serious pharmaceutical concern due to the adverse drug reactions and the low targeting ability of MNE. First results from the PROBA/CHRIS hyperspectral/multiangular satellite system over land and water targets

The Project for On-Board Autonomy (PROBA) platform developed by the European Space Agency was launched on October 22, 2001. The instrument payload includes the Compact High Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (CHRIS). The coupled system provides high spatial resolution hyperspectral/multi-angular data, which represents a new-generation source of information for Earth observation purposes. The first results obtained from the preprocessing (noise removal and geometric/atmospheric correction) of two different datasets, collected over agricultural crops and inland waters, are presented in this letter. Technical Note: Comparison of Techniques for Evaluating the Relative Preference by Sheep Among Saltbush Clones

This research compared 4 field methods of evaluating the relative preference by sheep of 28 clones of saltbush (Atriplex halimus L.). The methods were as follows. 1) Leaf dots (LD): 8 leaves per shrub were marked on the lower surface with a small dot using a water-resistant, nontoxic ink. 2) Twig marks (TM): 2 current-year twigs per shrub were marked with 3 lines using the same ink approximately in the middle of the basal, median, and apical thirds. 3) Branch length (BL): 2 branches per shrub were marked with ink at the base of the current year's growth. Abstract Dehydration of natural gas by absorption using triethylene glycol (TEG) is a common industrial offshore procedure to ensure the compliance with the required water dew point specifications for midstream transportation. Two thermodynamic models, the UMR-PRU and the TST/NRTL, are applied for the process simulation while a preliminary economic evaluation has been conducted revealing that both yield overall similar results as for the fixed capital cost which is found to be in good agreement with reported literature values.
