Comparative hydroamination of aniline and substituted anilines with styrene on different zeolites, triflate based catalysts and their physical mixtur…
2014
Abstract Catalytic performances of different zeolites (Beta and mordenites), scandium triflate based catalysts, mesoporous UVM-7 encapsulated scandium triflate and physical mixtures prepared under ultrasound irradiation were evaluated in the hydroamination of aniline and substituted anilines with styrene. The performances of these catalysts were controlled by the type of acidity and strength. Thus, the conversion was mainly controlled by the strength of the acid sites and their accessibility, while the selectivity appeared to be controlled by the Lewis/Bronsted type of acidity. Lewis acid catalysts directed the reactions mainly to the formation of the Markovnikov adducts while Bronsted acid…
Hierarchical Beta zeolites obtained in concentrated reaction mixtures as catalysts in tetrahydropyranylation of alcohols
2020
Abstract Hierarchical zeolites consisting of Beta nanoparticles (15–40 nm) were obtained via hydrothermal treatment of a concentrated zeolite gel-precursor (H2O/Si = 2.5–14) without utilization of complex SDAs. The proposed approach is based on the formation of a large number of zeolite nuclei under particular crystallization conditions, followed by their agglomeration resulting in the dense packing of the particles preventing their further growth. The micelles of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) can be used to additionally limit the growth of zeolite nanoparticles during hydrothermal treatment of concentrated reaction mixtures. Such deceleration of crystallization promotes the formati…
Cobalt Clusters with Cubane-Type Topologies Based on Trivacant Polyoxometalate Ligands.
2016
Four novel cobalt-substituted polyoxometalates having cobalt cores exhibiting cubane or dicubane topologies have been synthesized and characterized by IR, elemental analysis, electrochemistry, UV-vis spectroscopy, X-ray single-crystal analysis, and magnetic studies. The tetracobalt(II)-substituted polyoxometalate [Co4(OH)3(H2O)6(PW9O34)](4-) (1) consists of a trilacunary [B-α-PW9O34](9-) unit which accommodates a cubane-like {Co(II)4O4} core. In the heptacobalt(II,III)-containing polyoxometalates [Co7(OH)6(H2O)6(PW9O34)2](9-) (2), [Co7(OH)6(H2O)4(PW9O34)2]n(9n-) (3), and [Co7(OH)6(H2O)6(P2W15O56)2](15-) (4), dicubane-like {Co(II)6Co(III)O8} cores are encapsulated between two heptadentate [B…
Two-photon absorption of BF2-carrying compounds: insights from theory and experiment
2017
This communication presents a structure–property study of a few novel pyridine-based difluoroborate compounds with a N–BF2–O core, which exhibit outstanding fluorescence properties. To exploit their potential for two-photon bioimaging, relationships between the two-photon action cross section and systematic structural modifications have been investigated and unravelled.
Research Regarding the Physical-Mechanical Properties of Knits for Garments – Abrasion Resistance
2017
Abstract During wear, the fabric is subjected to a complex combination of forces acting at various rates, in various intensities, in various directions and for various periods. This is one of the main causes of a fabric and garment becoming unacceptable for further wear. The main goal of this research paper is to improve the physical-mechanical properties of knits for garments by choosing the right fabric structure and raw material. The abrasion resistance is a mechanical deterioration and progressive loss of substance from a fabric, resulting from the fabric rubbing against itself or another surface. Tests was done on weft knitted fabric for garments using cotton, wool and mixed yarns, thr…

A delamination test for structural wood adhesives used in thick joints
2001
A test method was developed for the measurement of delamination of structural wood adhesives applied in thick joints. Large differences were observed within a range of 8 commercial epoxy-based products.
Theoretical study on the decomposition mechanism of bisphenol A polycarbonate induced by the combined effect of humidity and UV irradiation.
2020
Polycarbonate (PC) is a good material for covering and protecting cultural heritage sites because of its durability, mechanical properties, and transparency. When bisphenol A polycarbonate is subjected to weathering conditions this polymer shows several degradation processes depending on the irradiation wavelength, humidity and temperature. In particular, the combined effects of humidity and UV irradiation speed up the PC molecular weight reduction. In this work, the decomposition mechanisms associated to the hydrolysis process are scrutinized and the effects of UV irradiation on the hydrolysis process are evaluated throughout the Density Functional Theory (DFT) approach. It was found that …
The effect of bone marrow-derived stem cells associated with platelet-rich plasma on the osseointegration of immediately placed implants
2020
Background Stem cells associated with growth factors have been shown to improve bone healing and the osseointegration of dental implants. A Brazilian miniature pig model was used to evaluate the effect of autologous bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) associated with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) on the osseointegration of immediately placed dental implants. Material and methods A total of four male adult miniature pigs were used in this study. BM-MSCs from each pig were isolated from the iliac crest and expanded in vitro. The undifferentiated BM-MSCs were mixed with autologous PRP and implanted in the post-extraction sockets at the experimental sites before implant placement …
Modeling Rain Isotopic Composition under Orographic Control: A Landscape Approach for Hydrogeological Applications
2021
Oxygen isotopic composition is useful for individuating recharge areas of groundwater bodies by the comparison with those of local rainfalls. While on a global scale general relationships, such as the isotopic vertical gradient or continentality effects, efficiently describe spatial variations of the isotopic signature, hydrogeological applications need spatial models that are more focused on the effects of local topographic structures and/or subsoil geology. This work presents a case study in northeastern Sicily (Italy) characterized by complex geological and orographic structures, in which isotopic composition of rainfalls is governed by orographic effects and the varying initial composit…
