The present paper analyses an underground and inactive quarry of calcarenite, which belong to a localised area called Cave di calcarenite in Contrada Cuccidenna that has been recognised as a typical example of industrial archaeological heritage. The study of this typical quarry is finalised to the preservation and safe fruition of this site, which represents the history of manufacturing technologies of rocky ashlars. Si riportano i risultati della verifica sperimentale, condotta in centrifuga geotecnica, sul carico limite, qlim, di fondazioni superficiali poggianti su terreni contenenti un sottile strato orizzontale di bassa resistenza a taglio. La presenza dello straterello influisce fortemente sul meccanismo di rottura del complesso fondazione-terreno e sul valore di qlim. Il qlim si riduce significativamente rispetto al caso di terreno omogeneo in funzione della posizione e della resistenza dello strato e la curva che descrive la variazione di qlim con la profondità dello strato presenta un minimo a tutte le accelerazioni esplorate.
