L'esercizio svolto da Sophie Morlaix ha prodotto un indicatore sulla falsariga di quello messo a punto dal premio Nobel per l'economia Amartya Sen per misurare il grado di povertà. Morlaix ha applicato il modello di Sen ai dati prodotti dall'indagine PISA sulle cometenze dei quindicenni nella comprensione della lettura, della matematica e del sapere scientifico. In questo breve capitolo si dimostra come si possano fare parlare i dati in modo che rivelino aspetti non afferrabili a prima vista, come è il caso dell'equità dell'istruzione che si puo far emergere, almeno per ora, solo con misure indirette.

This paper addresses the design of a bi-directional DC/DC power converter to interface a supercapacitor bank and a motor-generator unit. The design is based on an interleaved six legs topology in which the current is shared among six inductors to minimize their weight and cost, allowing, besides, a low switching frequency to lessen switching losses. The converter is conceived to be employed in an electric Kinetic Energy Recovery System for Internal Combustion Engine Vehicles. Background Nephritis is the major cause of mortality and morbidity in patients with lupus. Macrophages (Mo) are central to kidney destruction in lupus-prone mice and patients. CSF-1, and the newly identified IL-34, mediate Mo survival and proliferation. However, IL-34 and CSF-1 differ during development and disease. While CSF-1 and IL-34 share the CSF-1 receptor (cFMS), expressed by Mo, IL-34 binds to a second receptor, Protein-Tyrosine Phosphatase ζ (PTPRZ) in inflamed kidneys. Intra-renal IL-34, cFMS, and PTPRZ are increased during the progression of lupus nephritis in MRL-Faslpr mice. Knowledge Representation on the Web Revisited: The Case for Prototypes

Recently, RDF and OWL have become the most common knowledge representation languages in use on the Web, propelled by the recommendation of the W3C. In this paper we examine an alternative way to represent knowledge based on Prototypes. This Prototype-based representation has different properties, which we argue to be more suitable for data sharing and reuse on the Web. Prototypes avoid the distinction between classes and instances and provide a means for object-based data sharing and reuse.
