Relevance and Role of Contemporary Architecture Preservation—Assessing and Evaluating Architectural Heritage as a Contemporary Landscape: A Study Cas…
2023
Since WWII to the 2000s, numerous masters of contemporary architecture have contributed to the construction of new landscapes with their works; therefore, these places have become part of a changing landscape and of the multifaceted process of landscape generation. Nevertheless, during this fifty-year period, capitalism has led to the destruction of many existing landscapes, and the policies of protection and preservation have often entailed a process of musealization. In 2000, the European Landscape Convention adopted a new common-grounded definition of landscape, integrating a wide set of cultural approaches and disciplinary topics. Starting from the assumption that contemporary architect…
Turning Right/Turning Left? : A Neoclassical Socioeconomic Query of the Arts Signaled by Museum and Branding in Finland
2016
ABSTRACTThe Guggenheim Helsinki Plan indicated a wishful turn of the arts and culture in Finland from the socio-democratic tradition of a welfare society towards a further neoliberalism. Following the Finnish historical timeline and from a museological viewpoint, this article reviews how national identity was built through the arts, which later integrated into formal and informal education to enhance human capital. This instrumental view now promotes the idea of useful art to fuel an innovation economy of advanced technology. Considering embarking on the intricate platform of arts, economics, and finance through Guggenheim, rethinking the contemporary art market mechanism may prove to be be…
Dotted line of architecture along Tyrrhenian and Ionian Coasts Since 1980, various researches, stu…

The Digital change. Reasons and meanings of a new architectural expressivity
2014
The entry of computing in architectural has produced a real revolution in architectural scenario, changing the designer's arsenals and producing new expressive trends. However, up to now it is unclear how designers have actually taken advantage of the use of software to develop new styles, it is unclear what is the relationship between programs, operations and tools provided by them, and the formal configuration of new architecture. Moreover, the only element to identify digital influence on design seems to be only what designers or critics say-so. Then, the goal of the research was to actually identify these digital influences on architectural designs by developing a framework for identify…

Broilerikulttuuri : lihateollisuuden kanat suomenkielisessä proosassa ja sarjakuvassa vuosina 1969–2019
2023
O potrzebie dialogu. Koncepcja zwrotu edukacyjnego w sztuce
2017
This article is about the educational turn in contemporary art. At present, many artists are interested in educational projects—the planning of events in which education is not reduced to an auxiliary role (as is traditional with an exhibition). Simultaneously, however, the artists distance themselves from the school system and are attempting to experiment with education, treating it as an autonomous, alternative cultural practice. The author describes the traits and circumstances of this artistic phenomenon (above all, transformations in the field of socially engaged art, and criticism of the idea of a knowledge-based economy). She analyses the role of pedagogical methods and ideas in arti…
Population dynamics and tolerance to desiccation in a crustacean ostracod adapted to life in small ephemeral water bodies
2011
AbstractGiven their small size, isolation and unpredictability, temporary rockpools present high environmental stress and impoverished communities of species that have adapted to such stressful conditions. Special adaptations of the invertebrates living in these habitats include tolerance to desiccation and fast ontogenetic development in order to maintain stable populations and face high risk of extinction. Dozens of small rockpools (mostly with Ø<1m) can be found in east Spain on limestone substrate, where the only known Iberian populations of Heterocypris bosniaca Petkovski et al. (2000), an ostracod species with geographic parthenogenesis, have been recently found. In this survey, two o…
