2009

This article offers a reflection on the concept of “terroir”. This word has no exact translation in the English language because of the symbolic signification in the French culture. We will state the legislative and patrimonial link between “terroir” and wine which is often mixed in the people’s mind. In the field of Information and Communication, we will establish a meaning to this concept of “terroir”, from the representation and the situations of consummation that this brings about. This will lead us to do a contextual analysis which will underline new needs for the actor (in the sociological sense of the term) who adapts himself to the system he has to integrate. Then, we will obtain logi…

2015

Wine typicity is revealed at various spatial scales, according to the variability of terroir components, which individual contribution change depending on the site. In this study, the impact of climate at global scale on the sensory profile of wine is examined.Thirty one Pinot noir wines produced in 16 winegrowing regions in Europe (Germany, France and Switzerland), North America (USA), South America (Chile) and Oceania (Australia and New Zealand) were selected. A blind testing was performed on the wines by 14 judges; among which 9 were considered sufficiently repeatable (criteria evaluated from the sensory analysis results of two identical wines). Wines were described by 26 visual, olfacto…

Wine and Terroir(s) : an Identity between Myth and reality

2020

To speak about wine is obviously a sign of socialization, but is also a trend, which is part of the global interest in gastronomy. In order to build up discourses on wine, which heavily draw on marketing communication, referring to AOP and AOC labels and classifications does seem to be necessary but not sufficient, as the notion of ‘terroir’ has become prominent in many discourses and on a variety of media. The crave for authenticity and proximity permeates gastronomy and oenology markets, and the idea of terroir alone seems capable of just responding to this crave. Terroir can be seen as a warrant of identity offered by wine growers and makers, but is also demanded by consumers in quest of…

1H NMR-Based Metabolomics to Assess the Impact of Soil Type on the Chemical Composition of Nero d’Avola Red Wines

2023

: In this study, the soil effect on the micro-component composition of Nero d'Avola wines obtained from different locations was investigated through 1H NMR-based metabolomics. Two different approaches were applied: the targeted (TA) and the non-targeted one (NTA). The former differentiated the wines by profiling (i.e., by identifying and quantifying) a number of different metabolites. The latter provided wine fingerprinting by processing the entire spectra with multivariate statistical analysis. NTA also allowed investigation of the hydrogen bond network inside wines via the analysis of 1H NMR chemical shift dispersions. Results showed that the differences among wines were due not only to t…

2000

In south-eastern France, the récent Bell-Beaker culture is marked by the presence of a regional Rhône-Provence group having complex relationships with other régional Bell-Beaker and regional final Neolithic groups. The analysis from a spatial point of view and at different levels (cultural space, territory, land) leads to a better knowledge of prehistoric geography and also to raises other questions, such as chronology, history of populations and socio-economic models.

LE VIGNOBLE DU COUCHOIS : "ET SI L'HISTOIRE PARLAIT DE SON RENOUVEAU"

2022
