Spine is a structure commonly involved in several prevalent diseases. In clinical diagnosis, therapy, and surgical intervention, the identification and segmentation of the vertebral bodies are crucial steps. However, automatic and detailed segmentation of vertebrae is a challenging task, especially due to the proximity of the vertebrae to the corresponding ribs and other structures such as blood vessels. Transformation Algorithm of Dielectric Response in Time-Frequency Domain

Basalt polymers are rather new materials for civil engineering; therefore, identification of peculiarities and limitations of application of such polymers in concrete structures (particularly bridges) is of vital importance. The characterization of unbound materials in the mechanistic–empirical pavement design guide (MEPDG), also known as the 2002 design guide, is reviewed, and this characterization is applied to Minnesota subgrades. The main emphasis is on the collection of k1-, k2-, and k3-parameters for Minnesota fine-grained soils and the procedure for the interpretation of the resilient modulus test to provide an input to the multilayer elastic theory (MLET) analysis (Level 2 input). Analysis of tear protein patterns by a neural network as a diagnostical tool for the detection of dry eyes

The electrophoretic patterns of tears from patients with dry-eye disease (n = 43) and from healthy subjects (n = 17) were analyzed by means of multivariate statistical methods and an artificial neural network (ANN), following sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). From each electrophoretic pattern a data set was created, randomly divided into test (unknown samples) and training patterns (known samples), with ANN training by one of these sets. Imaginary time propagation code for large-scale two-dimensional eigenvalue problems in magnetic fields

We present a code for solving the single-particle, time-independent Schr\"odinger equation in two dimensions. Our program utilizes the imaginary time propagation (ITP) algorithm, and it includes the most recent developments in the ITP method: the arbitrary order operator factorization and the exact inclusion of a (possibly very strong) magnetic field. Our program is able to solve thousands of eigenstates of a two-dimensional quantum system in reasonable time with commonly available hardware. Abstract The local hadronic calibration scheme developed for the reconstruction and calibration of jets and missing transverse energy in ATLAS has been evaluated using data obtained during combined beam tests of modules of the ATLAS liquid argon endcap and forward calorimeters.
