Quantum Algorithm for Distribution-Free Junta Testing

Inspired by a recent classical distribution-free junta tester by Chen, Liu, Serverdio, Sheng, and Xie (STOC’18), we construct a quantum tester for the same problem with complexity \(O(k/\varepsilon )\), which constitutes a quadratic improvement.

Quantum Property Testing for Bounded-Degree Graphs

We study quantum algorithms for testing bipartiteness and expansion of bounded-degree graphs. We give quantum algorithms that solve these problems in time O(N^(1/3)), beating the Omega(sqrt(N)) classical lower bound. For testing expansion, we also prove an Omega(N^(1/4)) quantum query lower bound, thus ruling out the possibility of an exponential quantum speedup. Our quantum algorithms follow from a combination of classical property testing techniques due to Goldreich and Ron, derandomization, and the quantum algorithm for element distinctness. Shear bond strength of ceramic fused to CAD-CAM milled alloys

Background This study evaluated the metal ceramic bond strength of cast Ni-Cr, cast Co-Cr, sintered Co-Cr and milled Co-Cr alloys to ceramic through two application procedures including the ceramic layering technique and ceramic pressed-on technique. Material and Methods Ceramic materials (Ø 8 mm, 1.5 mm thickness) were veneered by either the layering or pressed-on technique to cast Ni-Cr, cast Co-Cr, sintered Co-Cr and hard milled Co-Cr alloy disc (12 × 12 × 0.5 mm) (n=15). Post-fatigue fracture resistance of metal core crowns: press-on metal ceramic versus a conventional veneering system

Background The aim of this in vitro study was to compare the mechanical failure behavior and to analyze fracture characteristics of metal ceramic crowns with two veneering systems – press-on metal (PoM) ceramic versus a conventional veneering system – subjected to static compressive loading. Material and Methods Forty-six crowns were constructed and divided into two groups according to porcelain veneer manufacture. Familiarization process in cardiorespiratory fitness testing for persons with mental retardation

The purpose of this article is to review the familiarization protocols and other factors used in laboratory and field testing studies implemented to measure the cardiorespiratory fitness of persons with mental retardation. Test selection issues, pretest familiarization procedures, and motivational strategies will be discussed. Little information is available to identify specific guidelines for familiarizing a subject with a specific protocol prior to cardiorespiratory fitness testing. The recommendations suggested in this article provide valuable and necessary information for researchers interested in the measurement of cardiorespiratory fitness of persons with mental retardation.
