Generative Design for Additively Manufactured Textiles in Orthopaedic Applications

AbstractThe aim of this work is to implement a new process for the design and production of orthopaedic devices to realize entirely by Additive Manufacturing (AM). In particular, a generative algorithm for parametric modelling of flexible structures to use in orthopaedic devices has been developed. The developed modelling algorithm has been applied to a case study based on the design and production of a customized elbow orthosis made by Selective Laser Sintering. The results obtained have demonstrated that the developed algorithm overcomes many drawbacks typical of traditional CAD modelling approaches. Enhancing tracking performance in a smartphone-based navigation system for visually impaired people

In this paper we show how to enhance the tracking performance of Arianna, a low-cost augmented reality system designed to meet the needs of people with problems of orientation, people with sight impairment and blind people. MARTA (MARine Tool for Archaeology) is a modular AUV (Autonomous Underwater Vehicle) designed and developed by the University of Florence in the framework of the ARROWS (ARchaeological RObot systems for the World's Seas) FP7 European project. International audience; The influence of quadratic stress, crystallographic texture, lubrication and surface roughness generated by superfinish turning on the corrosion behaviour of pure copper was quantified in salt-fog atmosphere. This was done using statistical analysis (Pearson's correlation matrix). Three compounds were found after corrosion tests: atacamite/paratacamite and a black layer (mixture of the lubricant and the salt atmosphere). Given a large population of agents, each agent has three possiblechoices between option 1 or 2 or no option. The two options are equally favorable and the population has to reach consensus on one of the two options quickly and in a distributed way. The more popular an option is, the more likely it is to be chosen by uncommitted agents.
