Relativistic Wigner function approach to neutrino propagation in matter

1999

In this work we study the propagation of massive Dirac neutrinos in matter with flavor mixing, using statistical techniques based on Relativistic Wigner Functions. First, we consider neutrinos in equilibrium within the Hartree approximation, and obtain the corresponding relativistic dispersion relations and effective masses. After this, we analyze the same system out of equilibrium. We verify that, under the appropiate physical conditions, the well known equations for the MSW effect are recovered. The techniques we used here appear as an alternative to describe neutrino properties and transport equations in a consistent way.

Questioning model-independent estimates of 2 νββ decay rates

2000

Abstract In this work we discuss the validity of recently published results, by Rumyantsev and Urin, concerning nuclear matrix elements of the two-neutrino double-beta decay transitions. These authors claim that these matrix elements can be calculated in a model-independent way. We have re-analyzed their results and extended their formalism to account for proton-neutron correlations at the QRPA level of approximation. We have found that the formalism fails in describing the double beta decay observables.

Search for theY(4140)viae+e−→γϕJ/ψats=4.23, 4.26 and 4.36 GeV

2015

Using data samples collected at center-of-mass energies root s = 4.23, 4.26, and 4.36 GeV with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring, we search for the production of the charmoniumlike state Y(4140) through a radiative transition followed by its decay to phi J/psi. No significant signal is observed and upper limits on sigma[e(+)e(-) -> gamma Y(4140)] . B(Y(4140) -> phi J/psi at the 90% confidence level are estimated as 0.35, 0.28, and 0.33 pb at root s = 4.23, 4.26, and 4.36 GeV, respectively.

Search for the decay ϕ→K0K¯0γ with the KLOE experiment

2009

Abstract We have searched for the decay ϕ → K 0 K ¯ 0 γ , by detecting K S pairs plus a photon and with the K S -mesons decaying to π + π − , in a sample of about 1.5 × 10 9 ϕ-decays collected by the KLOE experiment at DAΦNE. The reaction proceeds through the intermediate states f 0 ( 980 ) γ , a 0 ( 980 ) γ . We find five events with 3.2 events expected from background processes. We obtain the upper limit: BR ( ϕ → K 0 K ¯ 0 γ ) 1.9 × 10 − 8 at 90% CL.

Numerical Hydrodynamics in Special Relativity

2003

This review is concerned with a discussion of numerical methods for the solution of the equations of special relativistic hydrodynamics (SRHD). Particular emphasis is put on a comprehensive review of the application of high-resolution shock-capturing methods in SRHD. Results obtained with different numerical SRHD methods are compared, and two astrophysical applications of SRHD flows are discussed. An evaluation of the various numerical methods is given and future developments are analyzed.

Simple Applications of MaxwellTheory

2012

In this chapter we select some characteristic examples from the great wealth of electromagnetic and optical phenomena which are described successfully by Maxwell’s equations. These case studies are restricted to the classical, non quantized version of the theory. The field of semi-classical interactions of quantum matter and classical radiation field, as well as the full quantum field theoretic treatment of Maxwell theory is described in many monographs or textbooks, such as, e.g., [QP].

WγProduction and Limits on AnomalousWWγCouplings inpp¯Collisions ats=1.96  TeV

2011

We measure the cross section and the difference in rapidities between photons and charged leptons for inclusive W -> lnu+gamma production in egamma and mugamma final states. Using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.2 fb-1 collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider, the cross section multiplied by the branching fraction for the process ppbar -> Wgamma+X -> lnugamma+X, measured to be 15.8 +/- 0.8 (stat.) +/- 1.2 (syst.) pb, and the distribution of the charge-signed photon-lepton rapidity difference are found to be in agreement with the standard model. These results provide the most stringent limits on anomalous WWgamma couplings for data from hadron coll…

On the evaluation of a certain class of Feynman diagrams in x-space: Sunrise-type topologies at any loop order

2005

We review recently developed new powerful techniques to compute a class of Feynman diagrams at any loop order, known as sunrise-type diagrams. These sunrise-type topologies have many important applications in many different fields of physics and we believe it to be timely to discuss their evaluation from a unified point of view. The method is based on the analysis of the diagrams directly in configuration space which, in the case of the sunrise-type diagrams and diagrams related to them, leads to enormous simplifications as compared to the traditional evaluation of loops in momentum space. We present explicit formulae for their analytical evaluation for arbitrary mass configurations and arb…
