The complementary structural studies of the double metal cyanide type catalysts for the ring opening polymerization of the oxiranes

2016

Przeprowadzono badania strukturalne katalizatorów dimetalocyjankowych (DMC) z dwoma rodzajami ligandów organicznych. Zaproponowano wyjaśnienie etapów przebiegu krzywych otrzymanych metodą analizy termograwimetrycznej i różnicowej kalorymetrii skaningowej (TG/DSC) badanych katalizatorów.

A contribution to the study of staling of white bread: effect of water and hydrocolloid

1996

Abstract Staling of white bread at ambient temperature was studied using differential scanning calorimetry and dynamic mechanical thermal analysis. During storage, sample hydration varied slightly, from 0 to 0.4% per day, depending on packaging conditions. An increase in rigidity was observed, which was attributed both to starch retrogradation and to changes in the organization of the amorphous part of crumb. The glass transition temperature of crumb was not significantly modified by these structural changes. Hydrocolloids did not affect the overall shape of the viscoelastic behavior of crumb in the temperature range from −40°C to 80°C, and had a limited influence on the kinetics of starch …

New Route to Polynuclear Ni(II) and Cu(II) Complexes with Bridging Oxime Groups That Are Inaccessible by Conventional Preparations

2019

A series of new polynuclear complexes of divalent Ni and Cu with 2-cyano-2-oximino-acetic acid (later AACO2-) were obtained as the result of the ligand modification reaction in the process of complexation, using 2-cyano-2-oximino-acetates such as methyl- (later as MeCO), and ethyl- (as ECO later on). Synthesized compounds were characterized by spectroscopic methods, thermal analysis, magnetochemistry, and X-ray crystallography. Crystal data revealed the formation of the dimeric [Ni(AACO)(H2O)3]2·H2O (1), trimeric K2[Ni3(AACO)4(H2O)4]·4H2O (2), and K2[Cu3(AACO)4(H2O)4]·4H2O (3) complexes, with bridging NO-groups cyanoxime dianions. In the latter two compounds, the AACO2– anions adopt cis-arr…

Phase transitions in some n-alkanes and petroleum waxes — investigation by photoacoustic and exoelectron emission techniques

2000

Abstract The use of the photoacoustic (PA) effect and photostimulated exoelectron emission (EEE) technique in the investigation of first- and second-order phase transitions in pure n -alkanes such as n -C 22 , n -C 28 and n -C 32 and in three petroleum waxes having different carbon number distributions, have been examined. Changes in the amplitude and phase of the PA signal with temperature and the temperature dependence of the intensity of photostimulated EEE across the phase transitions have been measured. These measurements have shown that both the polymorphic phase transitions and melting of these hydrocarbons are accompanied by jumps or peaks of the PA amplitude and phase and EEE inten…

Two-step spin crossover behaviour in the chiral one-dimensional coordination polymer [Fe(HAT)(NCS)2]∞

2015

Solvated and unsolvated forms of the complex [Fe(HAT)(NCS)2]∞·(nMeOH) (1) (n = 1.5, 0; HAT = 1,4,5,8,9,12-hexaazatriphenylene) were prepared. The structure of 1·(1.5MeOH), measured at 120 K, showed that this system crystallizes in the homochiral P43 tetragonal space group. The solid is constituted of stacks of one-dimensional coordination polymers running along c-axis. All the FeII centres have the same Λ or Δ conformation and are in the LS state at 120 K. In the range of temperatures 10–300 K the magnetic properties of 1·(1.5MeOH) shows the occurrence of reversible spin crossover behaviour. However, above ca. 310 K complete desolvation of 1·(1.5MeOH) to give 1 was observed from crystal str…

Properties of new asymmetrically quaternized dicationic ammonium based room-temperature ionic liquids with ether functionality

2013

Eleven asymmetrically quaternized dicationic ammonium-based room-temperature ionic liquids (DRTILs) with bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (TFSI) were synthesized and characterized, along with 11 analogous dibromide precursors. Two-step synthesis was used to diquaternize tetramethyl-1,3-propanediamine and 2-(dimethylamino)-ethyl ether amines with a variety of alkyl and ether functionalized side chain groups (R1 ≠ R2). Each salt contain 1 to 3 ether groups located either in a linkage or in a side chain moieties. Structural and thermoanalytical properties, water content, and viscosity have been characterized using, for example, NMR, mass spectrometry (MS), X-ray diffraction, and thermal anal…

Halogen Bonding Based “Catch and Release”: Reversible Solid State Entrapment of Elemental Iodine with Mono-Alkylated DABCO Salts

2012

The halogen bonding (XB) between elemental iodine (I2) and neutral 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO) and its monoalkylated PF6– salts was studied by X-ray crystallographic, thermoanalytical, and computational methods. DABCO was found to form both 1:1 and 1:2 complexes with I2 showing an exceptionally strong halogen bond (ΔEcp = −73.0 kJ/mol) with extremely short N···I distance (2.37 A) in the 1:1 complex (1a). In the more favored 1:2 complex (1b), the XB interaction was found to be slightly weaker [ΔEcp = −64.4 kJ/mol and d(N···I) = 2.42 A] as compared to 1a. The monoalkylated DABCO salts (2PF6–7PF6) form corresponding 1:1 XB complexes with I2 {[2···I2]PF6–([7···I2]PF6} similarly to the…

Effect of Heating Time and Temperature on the Chemical Characteristics of Biochar from Poultry Manure

2014

Poultry manure (PM) chars were obtained at different temperatures and charring times. Chemical-physical characterization of the different PM chars was conducted by cross-polarization magic angle spinning (CPMAS) (13)C NMR spectroscopy and thermal analysis. CPMAS (13)C NMR spectra showed that the chemical composition of PM char is dependent on production temperature rather than on production duration. Aromatic and alkyl domains in the PM chars obtained at the lowest temperatures remained unchanged at all heating times applied for their production. The PM char obtained at the highest temperature consisted only of aromatic structures having chemical nature that also appeared invariant with hea…

QENS investigation of filled rubbers

2002

The polymer segmental dynamics is investigated in a series of silica-filled rubbers. The presence of inert fillers in polymers greatly affects the mechanical and physical performance of the final materials. For example, silica has been proposed as a reinforcing agent of elastomers in tire production. Results from quasielastic neutron scattering and Dynamic Mechanical Thermal Analysis (DMTA) measurements are presented on styrene–ran-butadiene rubber filled with silica. A clear indication is obtained of the existence of a bimodal dynamics, which can be rationalized in terms of the relaxation of bulk rubber and the much slower relaxation of the rubber adsorbed on the filler surface.

Laponite clay in homopolymer and tri-block copolymer matrices

2007

Macromolecule/laponite nanomaterials were studied by DSC and X-ray diffraction techniques. The matrices are poly(ethylene) glycols at various molecular masses and poly(ethylene oxides)-poly(propylene oxides)-poly(ethylene oxides) tri-block copolymers. The latter were tuned by modulating the molecular masses, at constant hydrophilic/hydrophobic ratio, and the hydrophilicity. For all the investigated systems, the enthalpy of melting (ΔH m) is nearly constant up to a given composition thereafter it increases monotonically reaching the value of the pure macromolecule. We proposed a model to interpret the DSC data. Briefly, it was invoked a mechanism of interaction following which some segments …
