Pre-exercise skin temperature evolution is not related with 100 m front crawl performance

During the transition between warm-up and competition there is a change in core, muscle and (eventually) skin temperature that may affect swimming performance. We have aimed to assess skin temperature evolution during transition phases of different durations before a typical front crawl effort and to investigate its relationship with performance. Measurement of skin temperature using infrared thermography has become popular in sports, and has been proposed as an indicator of exercise-induced muscle damage after exercise. However, the relationship between skin temperature and exercise-induced muscle damage is still unclear. Infrared Thermography assisted evaluation of static and fatigue Mode II fracture toughness in FRP composites

Abstract The work proposes the combined use of a Modified Transverse Crack Tension (MTCT) test coupon and Infrared Thermography, to evaluate the static and fatigue behaviour of Fibre Reinforced Polymer composites under Mode II delamination. Comparing different processing methods in apple slice drying. Part 1. Performance of microwave, hot air and hybrid methods at constant temperatures

The drying curves, energy efficiency and colour variations of sliced apples dried at various temperatures and using different techniques were evaluated, i.e. microwave (35, 55 and 65 °C), hot air (35, 55, 65 and 75 °C) and combination of both (65 °C). The microwave (MW) tests also included comparison between air recirculation and continuous inlet of fresh air. Each drying method was evaluated at a fixed temperature level by means of a control system based on infrared thermography. Infrared thermography-based evaluation of the elastic-plastic J-integral to correlate fatigue crack growth data of a stainless steel

Abstract The elastic-plastic J-integral is adopted to correlate fatigue crack growth data of ductile metals. An analytical link is known to exist between the J-integral and the strain energy density averaged in a control volume embracing the crack tip. On the other hand, the strain energy fluctuation is the source of temperature variations close to a fatigue crack tip of a metal material; hence the possibility to measure the J-integral from infrared thermographic scanning at the crack tip is envisaged and it is the focus of this paper. Effects of the cycling workload on core and local skin temperatures

[EN] Purpose: The aim of the study was to determine the influence of cycling workload on the variation of core and skin temperature of the different body regions, and the relationship between both temperature variables. Method: Fourteen cyclists performed two 45-min cycling tests at 35% and 50% of peak power output on different days. The cadence was constant in both tests (90 rpm).
