The Biosynthesis of Rare Homo-Amino Acid Containing Variants of Microcystin by a Benthic Cyanobacterium

Microcystins are a family of chemically diverse hepatotoxins produced by distantly related cyanobacteria and are potent inhibitors of eukaryotic protein phosphatases 1 and 2A. Here we provide evidence for the biosynthesis of rare variants of microcystin that contain a selection of homo-amino acids by the benthic cyanobacterium Phormidium sp. LP904c. This strain produces at least 16 microcystin chemical variants many of which contain homophenylalanine or homotyrosine. We retrieved the complete 54.2 kb microcystin (mcy) gene cluster from a draft genome assembly. “Replicative stress” is one of the main factors underlying neoplasia from its early stages. Genes involved in DNA synthesis may therefore represent an underexplored source of potential prognostic markers for cancer. To this aim, we generated gene expression profiles from two independent cohorts (France,n= 206; United Kingdom,n= 117) of patients with previously untreated primary breast cancers. Summary: Pseudomonas corrugataCFBP 5454 produces two kinds of cyclic lipopeptides (CLPs), cormycin A and corpeptins, both of which possess surfactant, antimicrobial and phytotoxic activities. In this study, we identified genes coding for a putative non-ribosomal peptide synthetase and an ABC-type transport system involved in corpeptin production. This requires a system to classify the basic operational modes of neurons and circuits. Siegel determined a fundamental domain using the Minkowski reduction of quadratic forms. He gave all the details concerning this domain for genus 1. It is the determination of the Minkowski fundamental domain presented as the second condition and the maximal height condition, presented as the third condition, which prevents the exact determination of this domain for the general case. The combined effects of CO2, ozone and drought on rubisco and nitrogen metabolism of young oak trees (Quercus petraea) A phytotron study

Abstract In this phytotron experiment we investigated the influence of increased CO 2 , O 3 and drought on the content of soluble proteins and some enzymes of carbon and nitrogen metabolism. We found that the amounts of soluble proteins and the large subunit of the rubisco per fresh weight in young oak leaves declined under conditions of increasing levels of CO 2 and after temporary water stress. The activities of nitrite reductase and glutamine synthetase were reduced when O 3 and CO 2 levels were raised.

Phase matters: responding to and learning about peripheral stimuli depends on hippocampal θ phase at stimulus onset.

Hippocampal θ (3–12 Hz) oscillations are implicated in learning and memory, but their functional role remains unclear. We studied the effect of the phase of local θ oscillation on hippocampal responses to a neutral conditioned stimulus (CS) and subsequent learning of classical trace eyeblink conditioning in adult rabbits. High-amplitude, regular hippocampal θ-band responses (that predict good learning) were elicited by the CS when it was timed to commence at the fissure θ trough (Trough group).
