Service level guarantee framework for IoT environments
2017
Nowadays, providing IoT environments with service level guarantee is a challenging task. We propose a framework for IoT service level guarantee thanks to several specific Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for IoT environments. We specify different SLAs for each entity contributing in our IoT architecture in order to conclude a global SLA called IoT-SLA (iSLA). These different SLAs enable IoT service provision with Quality of Service (QoS) guarantee. Achieving this guarantee requires several communications and interactions between the components of the proposed IoT architecture. These interactions allow an IoT Service Provider (IoT-SP) to conclude the iSLA with an IoT Client (IoT-C). We specif…

Blind Robust 3-D Mesh Watermarking Based on Mesh Saliency and QIM Quantization for Copyright Protection
2019
International audience; Due to the recent demand of 3-D models in several applications like medical imaging, video games, among others, the necessity of implementing 3-D mesh watermarking schemes aiming to protect copyright has increased considerably. The majority of robust 3-D watermark-ing techniques have essentially focused on the robustness against attacks while the imperceptibility of these techniques is still a real issue. In this context, a blind robust 3-D mesh watermarking method based on mesh saliency and Quantization Index Modulation (QIM) for Copyright protection is proposed. The watermark is embedded by quantifying the vertex norms of the 3-D mesh using QIM scheme since it offe…
Perioperative diaphragm point-of-care ultrasound as a prediction tool of postoperative respiratory failure in high-risk patients: A feasibility study…
2021
Abstract Introduction Respiratory muscle function in the postoperative period is a key to whether a patient develops Postoperative Respiratory Failure (PRF) or not. PRF occurs when the gas exchange does not meet metabolic needs. Ipsilateral paralysis of the hemidiaphragm after interscalenic brachial plexus block (ISB) causes an acute reduction of respiratory muscle function. This reduction does not cause PRF when the contralateral hemidiaphragm generates enough gas exchange to meet metabolic demands. Objectives To study the evolution of hemidiaphragmatic muscle function during the perioperative period with diaphragmatic ultrasound (D-POCUS), and use it as an innovative tool to predict PRF, …
Blood CO2 and pH Transients During Apnoea after O2 Breathing in Patients
1990
Endotracheal intubation always is combined with an apnoea the duration of which is dependent on the technique used, the skills of the intubator, and the anatomical situation. The resulting typical potential risks may be (among others) both hypoxaemia and hypercapnia. Therefore the tolerable apnoea time for an intubation procedure is limited in clinical practice to 1 – 2 minutes. It must be noted that the developing hypercapnia is inevitable, whereas hypoxaemia may be avoided even in prolonged apnoea (e.g. >2 min) with “adaequate” preoxygenation [Duda et al., 1988]. Using de-nitrogenation techniques (breathing pure oxygen for 30 to 60 min) “anaesthetized and curarized normal subjects tolerat…
Tailoring a Fashionable Self: Sartorial Practices in an Emerging Market Context
2015
Abstract This study consists in a quantitative analysis of fashion preferences, examining various factors influencing clothing personalization. The first part of the paper sets out the theoretical framework, discussing the historical relationship between the emergence of modernity and the configuration of fashion industry. The study proceeds with detailing the regional context where the empirical research is grounded, paying particular attention to the development and current status of the region’s clothing industry. After presenting the data and the methodology, the paper discusses the empirical findings followed by their interpretation. Based on the results we argue that the level of educ…
C9ORF72 in a Large Series of Italian and Sardinian Familial and Sporadic ALS Patients (IN9-1.003)
2012
Objective: To assess the frequency and the phenotype of a large series of Italian sALS and fALS with C9ORF72 repeat expansions. Background Recently we found that large expansions of hexanucleotide repeats (GGGGCC) in the first intron of the C9ORF72 gene, located in the chromosome 9p21, are related to familial and sporadic ALS cases(Renton et al, 2011). Design/Methods: We assessed 126 index fALS (106 Italians, 20 of Sardinians) and 601 sALS (485 Italians, 116 Sardinians), negative for other ALS-related genes mutations. Patients were collected through the ITALSGEN consortium. Repeat primer PCR to screen the presence of the hexanucleotide expansion in the first intron of C9ORF72 have been perf…
Health-related correlates of psychological well-being among girls and boys 6-8 years of age: The Physical Activity and Nutrition in Children study
2018
AIM Due to limited knowledge on the differences in the correlates of psychological well-being (PSWB) between girls and boys, we compared the correlates of PSWB between primary school girls and boys. METHODS A population sample of 412 children participated in the Physical Activity and Nutrition in Children study. Parents completed a questionnaire that included 19 questions on the components of PSWB, and a PSWB score was computed. We assessed correlates of PSWB, including physical activity, sedentary behaviour, cardiorespiratory fitness, diet quality, body fat content, sleep duration, sleep disordered breathing, prevalent diseases and parental characteristics. We used logistic regression to a…
Changes in pharyngeal aerobic microflora in oral breathers after palatal rapid expansion.
2006
Abstract Background The purpose of this study was to investigate in oral breathing children the qualitative and quantitative effects on aerobic and facultatively anaerobic oropharyngeal microflora of respiratory function improved by rapid palatal expansion (RPE). Methods In an open clinical trial, we studied 50 oral breathers, aged 8 to 14 years and suffering from both maxillary constriction and posterior cross-bite. At baseline, patients were examined by a single otorhinolaryngologist (ENT), confirming nasal obstruction in all subjects by posterior rhino-manometric test. Patients were evaluated three times by oropharyngeal swabs:1) at baseline (T = 0); 2) after palatal spreading out (T = 1…
