Tietotekniikkaa sisältävät lääkintälaitteet pitävät meidät hengissä, jos kehomme pettää. Background Adding cyclic short sustained inflations (sigh) to assisted ventilation yields optimizes lung recruitment, decreases heterogeneity and reduces inspiratory effort in patients with acute hypoxemic respiratory failure (AHRF). These findings suggest that adding sigh to pressure support ventilation (PSV) might decrease the risk of lung injury, shorten weaning and improve clinical outcomes. Adaptive smoothing spline using non-convex penalties

We propose a new adaptive penalty for smoothing via penalized splines. The new form of adaptive penalization is based on penalizing the differences of the coefficients of adjacent bases, using non-convex penalties. This makes possible to estimate curves with varying amounts of smoothness. Comparisons with respect to some competitors are presented.
A study of the behaviour of earth electrodes connected together in resonant earthed neutral systems

Inside urban areas the earth electrodes of the MV/lv substations are often electrically connected together so as to form a single extended earthing system. The advantages of the realization of an extended earthing system are the reduction of the current that each substation earth electrode injects in the soil during the fault and a better uniformity of the voltages to earth inside the urban area. In previous works, models for the study of extended earthing systems have been proposed. These models were valid for the case of single-line-to earth fault in isolated neutral MV networks. Global research on mind-body therapies is analysed, by focussing on scholarly articles on three Eastern disciplines (yoga, tai chi and qi gong) and three procedures (meditation, breathing exercises and relaxation). The bibliographic research was done using the Scopus database. The search was limited to the biomedical areas and to the years 2006-2010. We have analysed 2,363 articles published by 959 different journals. They were written by 6,583 authors from 2,162 institutions in 65 countries. Objective: Fear of childbirth (FOC), also referred to as tokophobia, can have detrimental consequences for a woman’s well-being during pregnancy and for their subjective birth experience. However, it is unknown what role self-esteem plays in the relationship between FOC and the experience of childbirth.
