Abstract  COVID-19 pandemic-related confinement may be a fruitful opportunity to use individual resources to deal with it or experience psychological functioning changes. This study aimed to analyze the evolution of different psychological variables during the first coronavirus wave to identify the different psychological response clusters, as well as to keep a follow-up on the changes among these clusters. The sample included 459 Spanish residents (77.8% female, Mage = 35.21 years, SDage = 13.00). Los convenios internacionales y la promoción internacional del turismo sostenible

2020

Tourism has become one of the world’s most thriving industries and is a major source of environmental degradation. Therefore, since the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, the international community has adopted several international conventions at the sub-regional and global levels aimed at promoting the sustainable development of tourism. The latest manifestation of this common concern has been the adoption in September 2019 of the Framework Convention on Tourism Ethics, which aims to give new impetus to international and domestic efforts towards responsible, sustainable and accessible tourism. El turismo se ha convertido actualmente en una de las industrias más…

Dynamic-Interactive Graphics for Statistics (26 years later)

2014

This paper briefly reviews the history of dynamic-interactive graphicsfor statistics, introduces an example of such graphics, and provides a fewglimpses as to the current state of things and the future trends we envision. The general conclusion is that dynamic-interactive graphics for statistics arethriving more than ever as they shift from the desktop to the internet. Thus,dynamic-interactive graphics are becoming increasingly important as they: 1) provide non-experts in statistics with the means to carry out analyses on their own; and 2) teach the basic concepts of statistics to students and practitioners with low to moderate  mathematics skills. Their increasingpopularity makes the lesson…

Innovation and Entrepreneurial Ecosystems: Structure, Boundaries, and Dynamics

2019

Recognizing the broader dimensions of entrepreneurial and innovation activities, holistic and inclusive networked approaches pave the way to co-creation activities that are essential for achieving sustainability in food systems. Recent studies have started to deepen what are the critical enablers for creating thriving entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystems. Networks that include firms, institutions, and several other relevant stakeholders in knowledge spillovers enable to produce more social and economic value through co-creation processes. Narrating well-being in the context of precarious prosperity: An account of agency framed by culturally embedded happiness and gender beliefs

2016

This article sets out to critically examine the accounts of well-being produced by a middle-aged Swiss woman living in precarious prosperity. By taking on a feminist reading of the narrative on well-being, the article challenges the taken for granted assumption of the powerful agent in thriving societies. Insights from literature on happiness in nations and gender beliefs enabled addressing the woman’s capability to exert agency, while acknowledging the influence of the context in which narratives are embedded. In addition, the presence of a non-national interviewer appears to be an incentive for the interviewee’s compliance with cultural meta-narratives. The approach of well-being as ‘age…

Quality Control for Medicinal Plants

2012

The scientific basis of evidence-based medicine is still poor in herbal medicine. For the integration of herbal medicine into western medicine, internationally accepted standards are necessitated, including quality control of herbal products as well as preclinical and clinical evidence of safety and efficacy. In recent years, thriving innovative technologies emerged in phytotherapy research, e.g. DNA-based technologies for the authentication of plant species, good practice guidelines for standardized experimentations. High-quality herbal materials should undergo rigorous examination by analytical techniques for chemoprofiling of medicinal herbs, as well as toxicological methods to detect co…

External Developmental Assets and Positive Identity Among Emerging Adults in Norway, Romania, Slovenia, and Turkey

2021

The present study adopts The Developmental Assets and Positive Youth Development (PYD) perspectives which (in contrast to the deficit-based approaches which highlight risks and deficit in youth development) claim that young people have potencies to achieve optimal development if supported by their social environment. Extant research indicates that developmental assets are linked with a variety of thriving indicators.
