Policing language in the world of new work : the commodification of workplace communication in organizational consulting

Abstract This paper examines how the shift to knowledge and innovation economy has created new sites for the commodification of language and communication in the context of organizational consulting. The data come from a consultant-led development and training program of the management teams of a Finnish educational organization. In the study, the year-long training was videotaped (45 h) and followed ethnographically. By using rhetorical discourse analysis as a method, we examine how the consultant-led training activities present the role of language and communication in changing working life. AbstractOur study estimates the effects of the European Monetary Union (EMU) on high-technology (HT) export and assesses the potential knowledge spillovers of such trade. Irrespective of the importance of the HT trade channel, none of the previous studies in the literature focus on the effects of a common currency on HT trade. Tiedon tuotantoa vai sivistystä? : poliittisten opiskelijajärjestöjen diskurssit yliopistolakiuudistuksesta 2009

Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on selvittää yliopistolain 2009 aikaisia diskursseja tiettyjen poliittisten opiskelijajärjestöjen näkökulmasta. Tutkimuksessa pyrittiin tuomaan esiin näiden opiskelijajärjestöjen diskursiiviset ulottuvuudet yliopistolaista ja sen valmistelusta. Diskursseja tutkittiin suhteessa Euroopan unionin ja Suomen harjoittamaan korkeakoulutuspolitiikkaan. Tällä näkökulmalla haluttiin tuoda esiin poliittisten opiskelijajärjestöjen kielellinen asema korkeakoulupolitiikassa ja yliopistolakiuudistuksessa: niiden tavoitteet, arvot ja retoriikka.
