Evaluación de las células de la blastema de aleta caudal como donantes en quimeras intraespecíficas de pez cebra

2008

The blastema is a regenerative tissue with remarkable pluripotency. The aim of this work done on zebrafish (Danio rerio) was to define technical procedures required for obtaining and integrating blastema cells into embryos at the mid blastula transition stage (MBT) and the effect on survival, as well as the capacity to produce pigmented chimaeras. Wild type blastema cells were injected into gold type MBT embryos (E). Wild MBT blastomere cells were also injected into gold type MBT embryos as a control (C1). A second control group, C2, was not subjected to any manipulation. Survival was evaluated at 24, 48 and 72 h after performing the chimaerism, and the rate of adult chimaeras evaluated. Th…

Magnetic resonance image segmentation and heart motion tracking with an active mesh based system

2002

International audience; Abstract: The work presented here relates to a method fir motion tracking in sequences of medical images. The purpose is to. quantify the general motions and the local deformations of a beating heart during a cardiac cycle. In order to achieve this goal, we first tessellate the, first image of the sequence into triangular patches. A Delaunay triangulation is applied to find the optimal set of triangles describing this image, giving a mesh covering the organs. One imposes the contours of the organs to correspond to edges of triangles so that each part of the heart (left ventricle, right ventricle, myocardium) can he described as a different set of triai izles, each set…

Trace elements and stable isotopes in penguin chicks and eggs: A baseline for monitoring the Ross Sea MPA and trophic transfer studies.

2021

Multi-tissue trace elements (TEs), C, N concentrations and stable isotopes (δ13C, δ15N) of chick carcasses and eggs of Adelie and Emperor penguins were studied to i) provide reference data before the recent institution of the Ross Sea Marine Protected Area (Antarctica), and ii) provide conversion factors that allow estimating C, N, δ13C and δ15N in edible tissues from non-edible ones, thus improving the use of stable isotopes in contamination and trophic transfer studies. Higher concentrations of As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Hg, Mn and Pb were found in chick carcasses than in eggs, suggesting increasing contamination in recent decades and high toxicity risks for penguin consumers. Isotopic conversion fa…

COX- Expression in the inflamed gingival tissue:Immunohistochemistry,Cytochemistry and Biochemistry test.

2007

Prostaglandins (PG) are chemical mediators for most physiological and pathological responses ,including cytoprotection of the gastric mucosa, blood coagulation, inflammation and pain (1,2,3). E2 Prostaglandins (PG2) play an important role of pathogenesis of periodontal diseases, since PG2 determines vasodilatation and increased vascular permeability, oedema and erythema. Therefore,it is not surprising to find high levels of PG2 in inflamed gingival tissues.Indeed ,in inflamed gingival tissue,PG2 levels of the Gingival Fluid (GCF) are known to be higher in periodontitis than in healthy gingiva. Moreover ,in different parodontitis the high PG2 level of the GCF is related to periodontal ligament …

Genetic parameters for somatic cell score according to udder infection status in Valle del Belice dairy sheep and impact of imperfect diagnosis of in…

2010

Abstract Background Somatic cell score (SCS) has been promoted as a selection criterion to improve mastitis resistance. However, SCS from healthy and infected animals may be considered as separate traits. Moreover, imperfect sensitivity and specificity could influence animals' classification and impact on estimated variance components. This study was aimed at: (1) estimating the heritability of bacteria negative SCS, bacteria positive SCS, and infection status, (2) estimating phenotypic and genetic correlations between bacteria negative and bacteria positive SCS, and the genetic correlation between bacteria negative SCS and infection status, and (3) evaluating the impact of imperfect diagno…

dglars: An R Package to Estimate Sparse Generalized Linear Models

2014

dglars is a publicly available R package that implements the method proposed in Augugliaro, Mineo, and Wit (2013), developed to study the sparse structure of a generalized linear model. This method, called dgLARS, is based on a differential geometrical extension of the least angle regression method proposed in Efron, Hastie, Johnstone, and Tibshirani (2004). The core of the dglars package consists of two algorithms implemented in Fortran 90 to efficiently compute the solution curve: a predictor-corrector algorithm, proposed in Augugliaro et al. (2013), and a cyclic coordinate descent algorithm, proposed in Augugliaro, Mineo, and Wit (2012). The latter algorithm, as shown here, is significan…

Immune networks: multitasking capabilities near saturation

2013

Pattern-diluted associative networks were introduced recently as models for the immune system, with nodes representing T-lymphocytes and stored patterns representing signalling protocols between T- and B-lymphocytes. It was shown earlier that in the regime of extreme pattern dilution, a system with $N_T$ T-lymphocytes can manage a number $N_B!=!\order(N_T^\delta)$ of B-lymphocytes simultaneously, with $\delta!<!1$. Here we study this model in the extensive load regime $N_B!=!\alpha N_T$, with also a high degree of pattern dilution, in agreement with immunological findings. We use graph theory and statistical mechanical analysis based on replica methods to show that in the finite-connectivit…
