Synteza bimetalicznego silseskwioksanowego kompleksu tytanu(IV) i jego polimerycznego odpowiednika oraz ich właściwości katalityczne w polimeryzacji …
2016
Zsyntetyzowano, a następnie scharakteryzowano dwa tytanosilseskwioksany: nowy, nieznany dotąd z literatury, tetrachloroditytanosilseskwioksan (2) i jego polimeryczny odpowiednik (3). Zbadano właściwości katalityczne otrzymanych związków w polimeryzacji etylenu i 1-oktenu.
Effect of hydrogen on the ethylene polymerization process over Ziegler–Natta catalysts supported on MgCl2(THF)2. II. Kinetic studies
2001
This article reports on a study of the effects of hydrogen on the activity of vanadium and titanium catalysts supported on MgCl2(THF)2 in ethylene polymerization. It was found that hydrogen did not change the stable nature of the active sites and the polydispersity index of the polyethylene obtained. The propagation rate, expressed as kp, was found to be independent of the presence and concentration of hydrogen, indicating that this reacting agent does not modify the reactivity of the active sites. However, the presence of hydrogen in the polymerization medium is responsible for partial deactivation of the active sites just before polymerization is initiated.
Effect of Hot Dip Galvanized Steel Surface Chemistry and Morphology on Titanium Hexafluoride Pretreatment
2017
Titanium hexafluoride pretreatments are known to improve paint adhesion and function as a barrier between the coating and the hot dip galvanized (HDG) steel surface. Interactions at the zinc/pretreatment interface are of utmost importance for the formation of pretreatment layers and the corrosion resistance of color coated hot dip galvanized steels. Removal rate of inert aluminum oxide from HDG steel samples by chemical dissolution was studied. XPS measurements showed that the surface Al2O3 layer thickness decreased rapidly already at mild alkaline cleaning, while complete removal of Al required severe etching. Low reactivity of an Al2O3-rich surface was confirmed by impaired formation of a…

Dissimilar titanium-aluminum skin-stringer joints by FSW: process mechanics and performance
2022
Ever since its inception, friction stir welding (FSW) is being validated by scientific investigations as an effective substitution for fusion-based conventional joining technologies. One of the main strengths of FSW is the possibility to produce dissimilar joints, even using materials extremely different in terms of thermal and mechanical properties. The goal of the present research is to investigate the feasibility of both Al-Ti skin-stringer and reversed Ti-Al skin-stringer joints, highlighting the effect of joint configuration and main process parameters on material flow and joint mechanical properties. During the investigation, the essentiality of the proper heat input through balancing
Quantum fluctuations in superconducting nanostructures
2014
Modern nanofabrication technology enableTfabrication of very narrow quasi-1-dimensional superconducting nanowires demonstrating finite resistivity within the range of experimentally obtainable temperatures. The observations were reported in ∼10 nm nanowires of certain superconducting materials. The effect has been associated with quantum phase slip process - the particular manifestation of quantum fluctuations of the order p arameter. In titanium, the phenomenon can be observed already at dimensions ∼35 nm where the fabrication is well reproducible and the dimensions of samples can be characterized with high accuracy. We have performed systematic study of the size dependence of transport pr…

High-quality superconducting titanium nitride thin film growth using infra-red pulsed laser deposition
2018
Superconducting titanium nitride (TiN) thin films were deposited on magnesium oxide, sapphire and silicon nitride substrates at 700 °C, using a pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique, where infrared (1064 nm) pulses from a solid-state laser were used for the ablation from a titanium target in a nitrogen atmosphere. Structural studies performed with x-ray diffraction showed the best epitaxial crystallinity for films deposited on MgO. In the best films, superconducting transition temperatures, T C, as high as 4.8 K were observed, higher than in most previous superconducting TiN thin films deposited with reactive sputtering. A room temperature resistivity down to ~17 μΩ cm and residual resist…
New Insights into Segmental Packing, Chain Dynamics and Thermomechanical Performance of Aliphatic Polyurea Composites: Comparison between Silica Oxid…
2021
Polyurea (PU) is intrinsically reinforced by its microphase-separated morphology, giving its excellent mechanical properties. In this study, it is shown how a high-index PU formulation applies easy diffusion of hard segments into the soft phase of the PU matrix and tune its chain mobility. Moreover, the interaction of micro (>100 nm), nano (<100 nm) fillers with the microdomains and their thermomechanical properties are unraveled. Herein, nanosilica oxide (NS) and micro titanium (III) oxide (Ti2O3) are incorporated at low loadings into a solvent-free two-component aliphatic PU via insitu polymerization. While NS achieves an interfacial interaction with urea groups and forms a tight ha…
