The reaction product of nitric oxide and superoxide, peroxynitrite, is a potent biological oxidant. The most important oxidative protein modifications described for peroxynitrite are cysteine-thiol oxidation and tyrosine nitration. We have previously demonstrated that intrinsic heme-thiolate (P450)-dependent enzymatic catalysis increases the nitration of tyrosine 430 in prostacyclin synthase and results in loss of activity which contributes to endothelial dysfunction. Synthesis, antiproliferative activity, and in silico insights of new 3-benzoylamino-benzo[ b ]thiophene derivatives

A new series of 3-benzoylamino-5-imidazol-5-yl-benzo[b]thiophenes and the parent amino derivatives were synthesized and screened as antitumor agents. All tested compounds showed concentration-dependent antiproliferative activity profile against HeLa cell line, exhibiting GI50 values in the low micromolar range. The most active compounds were tested in cell cycle perturbation experiments. A rapid accumulation of cells in the G2/M phase, with a concomitant reduction of cells in both the S and G0/G1 phases, was observed, suggesting that cell exposure to selected derivatives produces mitotic failure. Pacjentka, lat 76, została skierowana do Uniwersyteckiego Szpitala Klinicznego w Opolu z powodu podejrzenia rozwarstwienia aorty wstępującej i tamponady osierdzia. Przy przyjęciu chora w stanie ogólnym skrajnie ciężkim, z objawami głębokiego wstrząsu, niestabilna hemodynamicznie oraz wentylowana mechanicznie. W wykonanym doraźnie badaniu angio-TK stwierdzono rozwarstwienie aorty zstępującej z pękniętym tętniakiem w jej środkowym i dolnym odcinku oraz duży krwiak lewej jamy opłucnowej. Ze względu na znaczną szerokość aorty zstępującej, nawet w jej początkowym odcinku oraz aorty brzusznej powyżej pnia trzewnego do zaopatrzenia tętniaka potrzebne są dwa elementy stentgraftów o średnicy 46 mm. …

The Rohingya is an ethnic-religious Muslim minority that has struggled with serious human rights violations for decades. Indian migration to Burma, stimulated by British colonial rule, is pointed to as the main cause of the Muslim-Buddhist conflict. Although Indians in Burma currently constitute a fraction of the population (2.3%), resentment remained. Computer aided scheduling and routing of vehicle-carrier fleet—a case study

This paper presents a case study of development of an information system for a large enterprise from vehicle-transport industry. A novel optimization model and algorithms developed to solve scheduling and routing of vehicle-carrier fleet are presented and discussed. Carried out qualitative experiments confirmed the usability of developed user-guided search paradigm and high performance of autonomous algorithmic solution search methods.
